History
Rei has experienced similar events to his core series counterpart as the player character. Rei was originally a Trainer in the world he came from before he was sent back in time to Hisui by Arceus and joined the Galaxy Team Survey Corps. From Professor Laventon, he received a Rowlet, which he evolved into Hisuian Decidueye.[2] He was taught about the methods of the Survey Corps by Akari[3], and would go on to catch many Pokémon to fill out the Pokédex. On his journey, he met the merchant Volo and ultimately put a stop to his scheme to meet and subjugate Arceus and remake the world.

Trivia
- Rei is based on the player character of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, as his character description mentions how he traveled through time and space to arrive in Hisui.
- Rei & Decidueye are the first Fighting-type fair-exclusive sync pair.
- Following their release, all 18 types have a fair-exclusive sync pair.
- During the story event Together in an Unknown Land, Rei mentions that Pasio feels familiar to him, but he doesn't think it's the world he was originally from.
- In his sync pair story, Rei says that while helping someone, he befriended his first Pokémon, Rowlet, which eventually became a Decidueye.
- All versions of Rei use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon) and victory with them. Those Trainers include Akari, Adaman, Irida, and Volo.
- Rei (Academy) and Braviary were the first academy sync pair to be available from scouting.
Origin
Rei's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Hisuian Decidueye is the final Evolution of Rowlet, one of the first partner Pokémon of Hisui in the core series. In addition, Rei's animated series counterpart is depicted with a Rowlet, the unevolved form of Decidueye. Hisuian Decidueye's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Hisuian Braviary is one of the Ride Pokémon of Hisui, which the player can call using their Celestica Flute to glide through the air. Hisuian Braviary's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
