After the player begins their orienteering activities there, they can find Jacq at Reveler's Road, where he will invite them to a picnic and give them an Egg containing a random Sinnoh first partner Pokémon. Following that, he will remain at Reveler's Road, where he will volunteer to evaluate their Kitakami Pokédex and reward the player with a Glimmering Charm for completing it.

Jacq in Pokémon Horizons: The Series

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

Jacq first appeared in Welcome to Naranja Academy!. He was first seen at Naranja Academy, where he met Liko, Roy, and Dot. He requested that while Liko and her friends participate in the Tera Training course, they also take photos and make reports on any wild Pokémon they would encounter while traveling.

Jacq was mentioned by Clavell in Trending Terastallization! Dance, Dance, Quaxly!. During Clavell's assessment of Liko, Roy, and Dot's progress in Tera Training, he mentioned that Jacq saw a lot of potential in the young Trainers.

In Showdown! The Paldea Elite Four, Jacq accompanied Clavell in welcoming the students back to the academy and promising to give each of their reports a good read. He later joined the students in watching the Elite Four Tag Battle.

In HZ101, Jacq was asked by Clavell to follow Dot's research and report on Laquium. Intrigued by the subject, he decided to participate in the research alongside the Rising Volt Tacklers.

Character

Jacq has a friendly and cheerful personality, and is always keen to help students and encourage them in their endeavors. In the past, Jacq was a Pokémon ecology researcher alongside Clavell, but due to Clavell's strictness towards his work, Jacq was often reprimanded.

Jacq debuted in Speeding! Paldea's Prince of Speed!!. He was first seen in the Uva Academy staff room, attacking someone he believed to be an intruder, only to find it was a student named Violet. Once the misunderstanding was cleared up, Violet's talking Rotom Phone, Old Roto, asked Jacq to install a Pokédex app onto it, which he accepted. Once Jacq found that Violet was looking through the student registry, he attempted to reprimand the boy, only for Violet to escape. Later, Clavell gathered Jacq and the other teachers in order to inform them of Violet's backstory and explain his behavior.

In PASV12, Jacq, along with Salvatore and Raifort, agreed to take Clavell's place in Iono's Gym Test.

Jacq was introduced as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Scarlet & Violet Series (the Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era). It was first released in the Japanese Scarlet ex expansion and the English Scarlet & Violet expansion, with artwork by GIDORA. An ultra rare print illustrated by the same artist, and a special illustration rare version of the card with artwork by Oswaldo KATO were released in the same sets. It lets players search their deck for up to two Evolution Pokémon, reveal them, and put them in their hand. Afterwards, the player shuffles their deck.

Trivia

  • Jacq first appeared in Pokémon GO thirteen days before the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, thus technically making him the second character to appear in the core series games after first appearing in a spin-off game (the first being Professor Burnet). However, he was first revealed in pre-release material for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in August 2022, three months prior to his Pokémon GO appearance.
  • Jacq was intended to speak in the World Pokémon Ecological Society mock seminar that showcased Wiglett, but he ran late and ended up unable to attend, according to an unnamed assistant. Despite this, Professor Willow mentions Jacq having spoken at the World Pokémon Ecological Society conference.[4]
  • In a prior version of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, if the gift Riolu hatched from the Egg from Riley is transferred from Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl to Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, the game will state it was received from Jacq.
  • All of Jacq’s Pokémon represent the biomes of Paldea and Kitakami.
    • Arcanine’s evolutionary line is found in rocky areas.
    • Lurantis’ evolutionary line is found in forests and meadows.
    • Swalot’s evolutionary line is found near urban areas.
    • Mudsdale’s evolutionary line is found in mountains and swamps.
    • Slowbro’s evolutionary line is found near rivers and beaches.
    • Farigiraf’s and Victreebel’s evolutionary lines are found in prairies.
