Violet Lang (Japanese: バイオレット・ラング Violet Lang) is a main character in the manga series Pokémon Adventures. He is a student at Uva Academy.
Character
Calling himself Paldea's "Prince of Speed," Violet aspires to be the fastest in the region. He is searching for Herba Mystica so he can help Miraidon increase its speed. Violet is enthusiastic about racing and is easily distracted whenever he assumes a race is about to begin.
Violet is well-intentioned and quite cheerful, often happy to try new things. He has a habit of accepting any request without hesitation, even agreeing to help Cassiopeia after they hacked Old Roto. However, Violet's pampered background and lack of proper socialization as a child has made him rather arrogant, sensitive, and overly dependent on others. He often tells people he meets to refer to him by the title of (Japanese: 王子 Prince).
According to artist Satoshi Yamamoto, Violet was designed using his own customizable player character in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.[1] At first, he used the default hairstyle, but felt that it wouldn't be too distinguishable from Ortega. He showed the list of hairstyles in the game's strategy guide to members of his family, asking which one looked like a prince, and based Violet's design on their suggestions.[2]
History
Background

Violet is heir to the prestigious Lang family. At the insistence of his parents, the butlers and maids serving the family always referred to Violet as "Prince", which led to him believing he was actually royalty. One butler that was especially close to Violet worried the boy's overly-pampered lifestyle would make it hard for him to integrate into regular society. The butler attempted to slowly convince Violet he wasn't actually a real prince, but passed away before he could accomplish this. To console their grieving son, Violet's parents commissioned a Rotom Phone containing an AI copy of the butler's personality onto it. This Rotom Phone was given the name Old Roto and a mustache to make it resemble its human counterpart.
Violet's parents later enrolled their son at Uva Academy in order to honor the butler's wishes. Shortly before attending school, Violet and Old Roto witnessed an injured Miraidon crash-landing on a beach near Cabo Poco. Violet went to check if Miraidon was alright, only for it to steal one of his sandwiches and begin following him around. Shortly afterward, Violet received a call from Professor Turo, who informed him that Miraidon's condition could be cured if it was fed the Herba Mystica. At Turo's suggestion, Violet set out to find Turo's son Arven, who had been doing research on the mysterious plants.
Ever since he was young, Violet was led to believe that he was unusually fast for a human. One day after sneaking out of his mansion, Violet found himself unable to keep pace with a wild Lechonk he encountered despite acknowledging it wasn't a particularly fast Pokémon. Old Roto's human counterpart told Violet that Pokémon have abilities humans lack, which led to Violet concluding that he was only the Prince of Speed amongst humankind. He decided that in order to become a prince among Pokémon as well, he would need to utilize the power of a fast Pokémon.
Scarlet & Violet arc
Violet debuted in Speeding! Paldea's Prince of Speed!!. Shortly after arriving at Uva Academy, Violet and Old Roto began looking for Arven's whereabouts. Their search led to Violet crashing the school's opening ceremony and competing in a race against several teachers. All the commotion alerted Arven, who demanded to know how Violet came in contact with Miraidon. Violet ignored the question and instead dragged Arven along to assist in his quest to obtain the Herba Mystica.
In Discover! The Quaking Earth Titan!!, Violet and Arven traveled to Asado Desert, home of Iron Treads, the Quaking Earth Titan. Violet challenged Iron Treads to battle, but was easily defeated, allowing the Titan to flee. Recognizing that Iron Treads was too powerful at their current level, Violet and Arven decided to challenge the Titan again after they trained and caught more Pokémon. While battling wild Pokémon, Violet came across a pair of Team Star Grunts attempting to recruit a girl named Penny against her wishes. Violet used Fuecoco to defeat the Grunts and force them to retreat. Penny thanked Violet for helping her, only for him to react in confusion when she referred to him as "Prince" despite being a complete stranger.

In Raid! The Dark Crew Base!!, Penny explained that as a fellow Uva Academy student, she was present at the Treasure Hunt's opening ceremony. After Penny left, Old Roto was hacked by someone going by the name "Cassiopeia". The caller recruited Violet and Arven as members of Operation Starfall, a plan to defeat each of Team Star's five squad bosses and force the group to disband. Days later, Violet and Arven arrived at the Segin Squad's Base, where they were approached by Clavell. Disguised as a student named Clive, Clavell requested to join Operation Starfall as well, which Cassiopeia accepted. Violet was unable to see through his disguise, much to Arven's bafflement, but Clavell quietly told Arven to play along.
In Challenge! DJ Giacomo!!, Violet and Arven battled through waves of Grunts while Clavell played support by healing their injured Pokémon. Once the Grunts were defeated, their boss Giacomo stepped out to face Violet. Using his DJ skills, Giacomo tricked Violet and his Pokémon into unconsciously following the beat of his background music, throwing their movements off. Once Violet saw through Giacomo's strategy, he immediately launched a counterattack and emerged victorious using a Tera Orb he received from Clavell. Accepting his defeat, Giacomo stepped down as a boss before revealing that Team Star's prolonged truancy was because they were waiting for their true leader, the "big boss", to return to them.

In PASV07, Violet and Arven were approached by Penny, who revealed she joined Operation Starfall as a member of Cassiopeia's supply unit. As a reward for disbanding the Segin Squad, Penny gave information on the location of one of the Titans. Later, at South Province (Area Three), Arven and Violet encountered the Stony Cliff Titan, Klawf. Using the area's terrain to its advantage, Klawf kept dodging Violet and Arven's attempts to attack it. Realizing that a higher location would be the best vantage point to find Klawf's whereabouts, Violet had Arven climb up the nearest watchtower. Once he arrived, Arven encountered Nemona, who asked to let her join them in battling the Titan. Together, Arven and Nemona kept track of Klawf's movements, allowing them to lure it into the path of Violet's next attack, successfully driving it off. Arven treated Violet and Nemona to a sandwich made from the Sweet Herba Mystica that Klawf was guarding. The sandwich successfully restored some of Miraidon's strength, giving it the ability to dash, much to Violet's delight.
In PASV10, Violet and Arven traveled to West Province (Area One), where the Open Sky Titan, Bombirdier, resided. The Titan was causing havoc by dropping large boulders down a nearby hill, preventing anyone from reaching the summit. Using Miraidon's dash ability, Violet and Arven easily maneuvered around the boulders, but when Arven noticed an injured woman lying on the road, he made Violet take a detour. The woman, a traveling street performer named Mireia, revealed she was responsible for Bombirdier's rampage, as she earlier tried to calm it with her music only for her efforts to have the opposite effect. Using her music, Mireia distracted Bombirder, allowing Arven and Violet to launch a combined attack, taking down the Titan and gaining access to its supply of Bitter Herba Mystica. When the sandwich restored Miraidon's ability to move on water, Violet and Arven took the opportunity to travel on the West Paldean Sea.
Later, while in the Asado Desert, Violet and Arven were informed by Cassiopeia about a rumor that Team Star's Schedar Squad was looking for a bodyguard. Violet chose to go raid the Schedar Squad's Base alone before they could increase security and had Arven stay behind and look for the Titan. As he rode through East Province (Area One), many Grunts attacked Violet to try and stop him from getting to the base. Annoyed and tired, Violet headed to Levincia and put on a disguise, preventing the Grunts from recognizing him. As he approached the base, Violet was stopped by a girl named Scarlet, who asked if he could lend Miraidon to her. When Violet refused, Scarlet tied him with her Tarountula's thread, took Miraidon by force and rode off with it. Violet was freed by Clive, who Arven called to assist with the raid. They were also approached by Nemona, who came looking for Scarlet.
Violet received a call from Arven, who confirmed he had met and started traveling with Scarlet. Satisfied, Violet raided the Schedar Squad's Base alongside Nemona, only for the latter to easily complete the Star Barrage first to her skill as a Champion-ranked Trainer. Despite this, the Fire crew's boss, Mela, impatiently decided that because Violet was the one who issued the challenge, he should be brought to her regardless of how many Grunts he had beaten. During the battle, strong sunlight caused Violet to suffer heat exhaustion and pass out before Nemona and her Quaxly revived him with Rain Dance. The culprit was found out by Clive to be Charlos, a Charcadet that Mela had befriended. Mela scolded Charlos for its interference before continuing her battle with Violet, which eventually ended in the latter's victory.
With her loss, Mela was forced to step down from her position as squad boss. When the Grunts worried about having to leave the base and go back to their homes, Violet purchased the land the base was built on, allowing the Grunts to stay as long as they wished. Upon learning from Penny that Arven and Scarlet went to East Province (Area Three) to take on the Lurking Steel Titan, Violet and Nemona took a Flying Taxi to chase after them.
In PASV18, Violet and Nemona made it to their destination, only to find it littered with holes made by the Titan, an Orthworm. They immediately attacked the Titan, who promptly fled into its den and ate some Salty Herba Mystica to heal its injuries and increase its strength. Before Orthworm could defeat Violet and Nemona, they were saved by the timely arrival of Scarlet and Arven. The four Trainers used their combined might to finish Orthworm off by sending it falling down one of its pits. The group enjoyed some of Arven's Herba Mystica sandwiches, restoring Miraidon's ability to jump higher. Noting it was of no use to her in its current state, Scarlet returned Miraidon to Violet, who promised to inform her once he helped Miraidon regain its full potential. Scarlet then received a call from Cassiopeia, who revealed the Quaking Earth Titan made a reappearance and asked everyone to quickly raid the Navi Squad's Base.
Cassiopeia explained that a rogue faction of Grunts came up with a plan to raid the remaining bases themselves and take over Team Star. This would allow them to change the rules about stepping down when defeated, making further raids pointless. Violet and Arven chose to face the Titan while Scarlet and Nemona took on Team Star. The next day, Violet and Arven went to have lunch at the Treasure Eatery, only to find the building closed. The employees explained that a co-worker went missing while passing through Asado Desert to buy ingredients at Porto Marinada. Assuming this was the work of the Quaking Earth Titan, Violet and Arven promised to find the employee. They were stopped by the Medali Gym Leader Larry, who noted that he heard rumors about Violet and Arven's accomplishments in taking down the other Titans and wished to test their skills as Trainers. After being forced to register at the Medali Gym, Violet completed the Gym Test, then took on Larry at the Treasure Eatery. Violet eventually emerged the victor, convincing Larry to allow Violet and Arven to go face the Titan.
Violet and Arven traveled to Cascarrafa, where the former used the local Salon Renacer to restore his hair style back to its original design. They paid a visit to the Kofu Lounge, only to find that its owner, Kofu, left to help the the missing Treasure Eatery employee and had yet to return. Worried that something may have happened for Kofu to still be absent, Violet and Arven headed towards the Colonnade Hollow to investigate the situation.
