Plot

Violet battles his Clodsire against Mela's Torkoal. As they exchange blows, Violet becomes overwhelmed by the heat, which he assumes is the result of Torkoal's ability. After Clodsire knocks out Torkoal with a Slam attack, Mela lets her Starmobile join the fight, having it defeat Clodsire with Blazing Torque. Despite Torkoal's fainting, the heat continues to persist, leading Old Roto to discover that someone is using Sunny Day exclusively on Violet. Violet passes out from heat exhaustion, and Mela orders one of her subordinates to bring him water.
As this occurs, Nemona arrives to find Violet unconscious. She demands to know what Mela did to raise the temperature so drastically, but she denies having any involvement. Nemona sends out her Quaxly to use Rain Dance, which not only restores Violet, but leads it to evolve into Quaxwell. Suddenly, the heat rises once more where Violet stands. Spotting a group of Charcadet on the cliffs above, Nemona deduces them to be responsible and has Quaxwell take them down with Surf.
Mela commands the Charcadet to stop, surprising Nemona that they were not working for her. Clavell soon arrives, announcing that the real culprit is Charlos, a Charcadet who had been under the care of Uva Academy. Mela reveals that she had looked after Charlos, as well as many other Charcadet, but as Team Star had taken more of her attention, they had left her base. Clavell reassures her that the Charcadet stayed close by in order to help her in times of need. This leads Mela to wonder if Scarlet was involved in arranging their arrival.
Feeling better, Violet decides to continue the battle, telling Clavell and Nemona to step aside. Mela does the same with the Charcadet, ordering them not to involve themselves. Violet sends out Crocalor, having it use Bite as Mela's Starmobile lowers Crocalor's defense with Screech. Nemona wonders why Violet is not using any Fire-type moves, but Clavell points out that despite looking like a Revavroom, the Starmobile should be considered something of its own. It bashes Crocalor with Blazing Torque, then attacks with such a speed that Violet is unable to call out any moves quick enough. He resorts to shouting syllables as the Starmobile attacks, eventually resulting in a supereffective Stomping Tantrum that knocks it out, rendering Violet the winner.
When Nemona asks Violet about the move, he reveals he received it as a TM from a Pokémon League representative after he had defeated numerous Team Star Grunts. He is interrupted by a sudden cry, then turns to see a bunch of Mela's grunts swarming her, concerned over where they can stay now that the Schedar Squad has been forced to dismantle. Clavell and Nemona begin to doubt if they are doing the right thing, as Team Star had become a safe space for those with nowhere else to go. Clavell then asks Mela about Team Star's establishment, and she points him to "Operation Star," which Clavell is unfamiliar with. He explains that he does not know why so many of the academy's staff quit, or any other information regarding the creation of the team.
To everyone's surprise, Violet announces that he has purchased the land under the Schedar Squad's Base, allowing everyone to remain living there. Mela then turns back to Clavell to tell him that she will speak to the other bosses of Team Star before telling him about their history. She takes Charlos's hand, then exits the base, leading the other Charcadet.
Meanwhile, Scarlet and Arven are watching by some ruins, when Cassiopeia hacks into Scarlet's Rotom Phone. They inform her that Mela was defeated and consequently retired as the Schedar Squad's boss. Cassiopeia then asks Scarlet if she was responsible for the arrival of the group of Charcadet, saying they acted as if they were ordered by a Trainer. Not answering the question, Scarlet notices Cassiopeia sounded happy with her for potentially having done what they suspected, pointing out that they had sounded disappointed when Scarlet refused to guard the Schedar Squad's Base before. Cassiopeia stutters and unexpectedly releases their control of Scarlet's Rotom Phone. At the same time, Arven hears a shout in the distance.
As Violet, Nemona, and Clavell are on their way out, they come across Penny. Nemona recognizes her as a transfer student from Galar, but Clavell explains that is not the case, and instead she had taken a year and a half away from class to be with her family. When Penny is startled by his knowledge of her, Violet assures her that "Clive" is a best friend of his, and has been working alongside him. Penny then explains to him that she had already given his reward—information about the next Titan Pokémon—to Scarlet and Arven. Nemona prepares to drag Violet off to meet them, but a Flying Taxi soon arrives for them, summoned by Old Roto. As Violet and Nemona set off in the taxi, Clavell tries to speak with Penny, but finds she has already left.
