Continuing from the previous chapter, Arven is shocked to see Miraidon run up to him with Scarlet on its back. It immediately throws Scarlet off, then digs out Arven's bag of sandwich ingredients from his backpack and drops it onto his head. As he gleefully begins preparing a sandwich for Miraidon, Scarlet recognizes the scent of Arven's ingredients, and asks if he has met Nemona. This leads Arven to realize that she is "Letty," whom Nemona had spoken of. He gives a sandwich to Scarlet, which she is unable to resist. As she scarfs it down, Arven and Scarlet begin talking about Nemona, who Scarlet explains began referring to her as a best friend and rival without her agreement. Arven passionately relates to this and frustrates over Violet's selfish tendencies, until Scarlet claims that, by letting his guard down and speaking with her, Arven is not too different from him.
After finishing its sandwich, Miraidon begins to return to Violet. Scarlet uses her Tarountula to pull herself onto its back, then has it fling itself onto Arven to drag him on as well. Explaining her profession as a treasure hunter, Scarlet reveals that she will need his assistance for her latest task, for which she had borrowed Miraidon without permission. As Scarlet asks questions about Miraidon, Arven tells her about its missing abilities, and their need to defeat Titan Pokémon to regain them. Arven reveals that Cassiopeia is the one informing them about the locations of the Titan Pokémon, surprising Scarlet. As they mention Cassiopeia's name, their voice begins to speak from Scarlet's Rotom Phone, confirming they were listening in.
Cassiopeia asks Scarlet why she left the Schedar Squad's Base, and she responds by asking if Operation Starfall is their "treasure." Scarlet then decides that if so, she will "accept" to not guard Team Star, asking for information on Titan Pokémon as payment. Arven chimes in as well to ask, leading Cassiopeia to give them the location of the Lurking Steel Titan—East Province (Area Three). Scarlet stops Miraidon by having Tarountula wrap it in webbing, then demands Arven to make a sandwich. Arven is confused, but realizes that Scarlet gives him a feeling that all will be well if he does what she says.
At the Schedar Squad's Base, Violet learns from Arven that he and Scarlet are taking Miraidon to fight the Titan. He is eager to take on the Fire Crew, but Nemona points out his lack of Pokémon who can effectively fight against Fire-type Pokémon. At Clavell's suggestion, Violet decides to take Nemona with him for backup. He heads toward the gates, leaving Nemona and Clavell to discuss Team Star. Clavell reveals to her that he disguises as a student so the team's members will not recognize him, as many of them stopped attending class prior to his appointment as director. Nemona considers finding a disguise for herself, admitting that she has been scaring away too many Trainers who recognize her as a Champion, which makes it more difficult for her to find people to battle.
The gates buzz and open, allowing Nemona and Violet to enter the base. Excited at having the chance to battle so many Trainers, Nemona is driven to tears. She quickly beats the required 30 Trainers, making Violet worry there will not be enough left for him. This leads some of the grunts to alert Mela, bringing her and her Starmobile out of her tent. They inform her that Violet, the registered challenger, has not yet defeated 30 grunts, but Mela orders them to bring him over anyway. After the grunts carry him to her, she demands a battle with him. Violet tells her to wait until the Star Barrage is over, but she sends out her Torkoal to attack his Pokémon, rendering Smoliv and Lokix unable to battle. When Violet is frustrated at her complete disregard of the rules, Mela asserts that she is in charge of her own base, introducing herself as the boss of the Schedar Squad.
As Clavell watches the battle from afar, he notices that the temperature has risen drastically. He turns around to see a large group of Charcadet standing on the cliff above, staring down at him.
