Leaf Blade (Japanese: リーフブレード Leaf Blade) is a damage-dealing Grass-type move introduced in Generation III. Prior to Generation IV, it was the signature move of Grovyle and Sceptile. It was TR50 in Generation VIII.

Effect

Generation III

Leaf Blade inflicts damage and has an increased critical hit ratio. It has a base power of 70 in this generation.

Generation IV onwards

Leaf Blade's base power increased from 70 to 90. If used by a Pokémon with Sharpness, its power is increased by 50%.

Leaf Blade can also be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining extra three appeal points if the move Focus Energy was used in the prior turn.

Leaf Blade's PP has been reduced to 10, and its power has been lowered to 85.

Trivia

• In the Brazilian Portuguese dub of Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire, from Clamperl of Wisdom to From Cradle to Save, Leaf Blade is referred to as either Folha Navalha or some slight variation of it, a name that had been present in the Brazilian dub since Enter the Dragonite as the national name for Razor Leaf.
  • Interestingly, Leaf Blade is referred to as Lâmina de Folha, its most fitting, and now official, name, from its animated series debut to forty-seven episodes later. It is currently unknown why this name would disappear from the dub until Odd Pokémon Out!.
