Max Battle
A Max Battle is a type of battle in Pokémon GO that takes place at a Power Spot.
Similarly to Raid Battles, Max Battles involve players collaborating to defeat a boss Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokémon. Players can spend Max Particles at Power Spots to participate in Max Battles, but the Max Particles are only consumed if players are victorious, at which point they can catch the boss Pokémon and station their own Dynamax Pokémon at the Power Spot to assist other players and earn Candy. The amount of Max Particles spent depends on the difficulty of the boss. Unlike Raid Battles, only up to 4 players can participate in a Max Battle, and can only use Pokémon capable of Dynamaxing or Gigantamaxing, up to a maximum of three. Players can also use Crowned Sword Zacian, Crowned Shield Zamazenta, and Eternatus, despite being unable to Dynamax or Gigantamax. Additionally, rather than a hard time limit, players will lose if all of their Pokémon are defeated, although at approximately six minutes into a fight, a message that the boss "is getting desperate" indicates it will hit for considerably more, and it is unlikely for players to survive more than a few additional seconds. A Max Battle will remain at a Power Spot until the player defeats it or the Power Spot disappears. Additionally, Max Battles can only be challenged between 6am and 9pm local time. As of May 19, 2025, Max Battles can be participated in remotely with a Remote Raid Pass and the required Max Particles. Up to 3 friends can be invited to a Max Battle. In-person players receive more Premier Balls and Experience from Max Battles compared to remote players.
Gigantamax Max Battles function slightly differently. Initially, up to 40 players, split into groups of four or fewer, could participate in Gigantamax Max Battles. Starting August 23, 2025, up to 100 players, split into groups of four or fewer, can participate in Gigantamax Max Battles. Up to 10 friends can be invited to Gigantamax Max Battles.
Eternamax Max Battles are a variation of Gigantamax Max Battles where players battle against Eternamax Eternatus. However, it cannot be caught upon its defeat. Instead, defeating Eternamax Eternatus in Max Battles rewards large quantities of Eternatus Candy and Eternatus Candy XL.
Difficulty
The difficulty of a Max Battle varies depending on its level (also referred to as its "tier" or by a "star" rating).

| One-star Max Battle | 250 | 5,000 | |

| Three-star Max Battle | 7,500 | ||
| Four-star Max Battle | 800 | 10,000 | |
| Legendary Max Battle | 15,000 | ||
| Gigantamax Max Battle | 25,000 | ||
| Eternamax Max Battle | 50,000 |
Max Mondays
Max Mondays are events in which a different Power Spot Boss takes over all Power Spots for approximately one hour, similarly to Raid Hours. Every Monday from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. local time, the Dynamax Pokémon spawns in all Power Spots that are currently active.
