Max Particles (Japanese: マックス粒子Max Particle) are a currency in Pokémon GO. Their mysterious energy enables Pokémon to Dynamax.[1] Players can acquire Max Particles by interacting with Power Spots, walking, or using Max Particle Packs. Max Particles are used to participate in Max Battles and unlock or level up Max Moves.

Limits
Outside of certain events, players can only earn 800 each day, which resets at 5 a.m. local time. Receiving Max Particles from completing a research task, redeeming a code, or using a Max Particle Pack does not count against the daily earn limit.
Initially, players could only hold 1,000 at any time; on May 19, 2025, this carry limit was increased to 1,500. Completing research tasks and redeeming codes are both possible while over the carry limit, but players must be under the carry limit to use Max Particle Packs.
Both the earn and carry limits are soft limits. For example:
If a player has already earned 780 in a single day and walks 2 km to earn another 300, they will earn the full amount despite going over the typical earn limit. At that point, since they are over the earn limit, they cannot earn any more Max Particles until the next day.
If a player has 1,480 and spends a Max Particle Pack to add another 800, they will receive the full amount despite going over the carry limit. At that point, since they are over the carry limit, they cannot earn any more Max Particles or use any Max Particle Packs until they spend some of their Max Particles.
The amount of Max Particles required to participate in a Max Battle depends on its tier. Unlike Raid Passes, Max Particles are not spent unless the player is victorious.
