Plot

As the Brave Olivine flies over the sea, Roy is steering the ship for the first time under Murdock's supervision. He tells Roy the younger members will be deciding where the Brave Olivine will travel to from now on as a flashback shows them planning their next step. With their promise to Lucius to rid the world of Laquium, it is going to be difficult with the Explorers not only spreading them in Strong Spheres, but also them being declared as "heroes" in contrast to the "villainous" Rising Volt Tacklers. Using brute force is out of the question, leaving investigating the Laquium further as their only choice in convincing people of their dangerous use. Just then, Dot suggests they go to Naranja Academy in Paldea since the people there know of the true nature of the Explorers, and are therefore likely to believe in the Rising Volt Tacklers. Back in the present, Liko comes to the captain's deck to tell Uruto about his room, but Roy tells her only his Sableye is with him. Asking Sableye for help, Liko finds Uruto struggling with his motion sickness as Meowscarada makes a flower bomb startle him to her amusement. Liko tells Uruto about his room, but he refuses, wanting to take the observation deck instead. Musing about the last person who used the observation deck as a room, Liko asks why does Uruto want it as his room, and he responds he's able to see the sky from there.

The younger members arrive at Naranja Academy as the older members do their own stuff. In the principal's office, Clavell and Geeta introduce themselves to Uruto, who is surprised to hear Geeta is Top Champion of the Pokémon League. Geeta notes Meowscarada's Evolution and Lucario's presence while Clavell is proud to see their growth. When Geeta tells them the rumors of the Rising Volt Tacklers have reached their ears, Liko and Roy defend the team, but Geeta reassures nothing has changed in their trust before Clavell asks them to give their presentation. With a deep breath, Dot begins with the sightings of Pokémon acting unusually in various regions, stemming from Laquium that came from Laqua on Mount Pericarp, with Exceed using these very crystals in their Strong Spheres. She further elaborates on the effects they've seen thus far, such as increasing a Pokémon's stats and inability to listen to their Trainer. Geeta understands the situation, but asks for more evidence before they can act on the issue. Clavell introduces the kids to someone who can help them with this, none other than Jacq.

While Liko, Roy, and Dot explain what they know about Laquium to Jacq, Uruto gets chased around by Nemona and Dendra, who caught him when he almost ate food meant for the students. Jacq decides to collaborate with the Rising Volt Tacklers in their investigation into the Laquium, making them happy. Roy finally notices Uruto is not with them and they set off to find him. They find him and Sableye being held in Dendra's Hariyama's fists while reuniting with Nemona and Dendra. The duo are released from Hariyama's hold when Roy explains the situation. Nemona asks for a battle with Roy since it has been some time, and he agrees, with Dendra acting as referee.

Dendra explains the rules of a Double Battle, with Roy bringing out Lucario and Crocalor, making Nemona excited at seeing Roy with a new Pokémon. She brings out her Pawmot and Ribombee, allowing Dendra to begin the battle. Lucario and Pawmot exchange blows with Close Combat and Mach Punch, leaving Liko and Dot in awe at how evenly matched they are. Uruto is impressed with Nemona's strength, only to be surprised again when Dot reveals Nemona is a Champion. Nemona has Ribombee give Pawmot a Pollen Puff, healing the Hands-On Pokémon. Roy sends Crocalor to stop Ribombee from healing Pawmot again, so Nemona has Ribombee send a Pollen Puff to the Fire Croc Pokémon, dealing damage instead of healing. At that moment, Penny calls Dot, telling her to go somewhere, forcing her to leave. While Pawmot charges up, Crocalor and Lucario charge in, only for Ribombee to put up a Light Screen to block their attacks. Nemona has Pawmot use Focus Punch once it finishes charging up, causing heavy damage to Roy's Pokémon.

At the same time, Dot arrives at Penny's room, and the latter explains she has organized some Laquium Signs sighting points for the former using the observation cameras, earning some gratitude from Dot. While Penny sends the data to Dot, Liko and Uruto are concerned for Roy. Pawmot charges up again, causing Roy to send his Pokémon to stop it, but Ribombee stops them using Sticky Web. Crocalor melts the net with Flame Charge and slams into Pawmot. Nemona orders Ribombee to send a Pollen Puff to help Pawmot, but it ends up helping Crocalor when he eats it instead. Dot returns with Penny in tow just as Roy Mega Evolves Lucario into Mega Lucario. Nemona gets even more pumped up at the development and decides to Terastallize her Pawmot into a Fighting type. Once again, the two Pokémon exchange blows with Close Combat and Mach Punch, leaving their Trainers in awe at the power-ups the other Pokémon got. Roy attempts to have Crocalor help in with Stomping Tantrum, but Nemona has Ribombee block it with Energy Ball. Pawmot goes after Lucario, with Ribombee sending plenty of Pollen Puffs that is eaten by Crocalor, only to miss out one. Despite the damage, Lucario held in there. Both Trainers send their Pokémon to deal the finishing blow, with Nemona's Pawmot being defeated as its Terastallization comes undone, leaving Roy the winner. While frustrated, Nemona accepts her loss as the others talk about Nemona's dedication. Shortly after, Penny surprises everyone present by asking to battle Dot, bringing out her Sylveon and Flareon.

Meanwhile, on a boat, Zirc and Onia are still searching for Amethio. As Zirc says searching is all they can do, Onia holds the Zygarde Cube, asking Zygarde to guide them.
