(Japanese: ウルト Uruto[1]) is a major supporting character in Pokémon Horizons: The Series, introduced in the Mega Voltage arc. He is Roy's rival and a member of the Rising Volt Tacklers.
History

In the year following the events of Where the Adventure Leads, Uruto met and trained alongside Roy in the Kalos region, which led to them becoming rivals, aquiring Mega Rings, and mastering Mega Evolution.
Uruto debuted in HZ090. He found Roy searching for a wild Slaking and insisted on following him, despite the other's attempts of warding him off. Eventually, they found the Slaking and had their Pokémon battle and defeat it after discovering that it was being influenced by Laquium. In the following morning, Uruto found out that Roy had woken up earlier and left him behind.
In HZ092, Uruto tracked Roy down to an unknown town, discovering him with Liko. While continuing to follow them, he and his Sableye accidentally fell down a hole and investigated it, only to be caught by a Laquium-afflicted Steelix. Later, he found Roy and Liko fighting another afflicted Steelix. Seeing the severity of the situation, he Mega Evolved his Sableye and assisted the two in fighting the berserk Pokémon. After being introduced to Liko, his Sableye attempted to eat Pagogo due to the gems it had, but Uruto managed to pull it away. Uruto chastised Roy for abandoning him in the forest, leading to Roy realizing that Uruto had been following him, though he denied the accusation. He then began a monologue claiming that the Black Rayquaza would be his, prompting Roy to drag Liko off, much to his frustration.

In HZ095, Uruto ended up in Exceed's Test Center near Uirō City, where a live demonstration of the Strong Sphere was being held. He encountered Liko and Roy, but coldly shrugged off Roy's attempt to talk to him due to the motion sickness resulting from having ridden the bus. Uruto contemplated using the Strong Sphere at first, but quickly made up his mind to not use it after seeing the effects on Coral and Sidian's Pokémon. He had his Sableye face off against them, but Coral's Glalie wrapped the battle early with a Self-Destruct, allowing Uruto, Liko, and Roy to escape. Then, he decided to formally join the two of them on their journey.
In HZ096, after learning from Dot about a Black Rayquaza sighting near Blackthorn City, the trio decided to go there and investigate. While on the way, they were stopped by the Dragon Rampage Gang, a trio of Cyclizar-riding Dragon Tamers, who feigned ignorance about the Black Rayquaza and fled, accusing Uruto's group of being Pokémon poachers. Later, the group encountered Snake, an actual poacher. Uruto tried facing the man alone, but was scolded by Liko, who stated his reckless actions would never allow him to become strong. Taking Liko's critique to heart, Uruto teamed up with Roy and defeated Snake, sending him running off. Impressed by their heroics, the Dragon Rampage Gang decided to take Liko and Roy, but not Uruto, to the Dragon's Den, where the Black Rayquaza was recovering from the events at Laqua. Uruto, however, insisted and found his way there, where he met the Legendary Pokémon for the first time and told it to get better quickly, as he only wanted to face it at full strength, while also proclaiming his intention of becoming way stronger.

In HZ099, Uruto, Liko, Roy, and Dot, who had joined them in the previous episode, arrived at Karna's Poké Ball factory, in Galar, to meet up with Orla, a former member of the Rising Volt Tacklers. While the others tried convincing Orla to aid them, Uruto found out that Karna had been hired to manufacture shells for the Strong Spheres, oblivious to what they truly were. Two Exceed employees came to pick up their order, but when Uruto denied them, the Explorers members Indy and Rubella stepped in to take them by force. In the next episode, Uruto, Liko, Roy, and Dot teamed up to battle Indy and Rubella's Laquium-enhanced Paldean Tauros. By exploiting a weakness caused by the Laquium's effect, Uruto and the others emerged victorious, forcing Indy and Rubella to retreat. Later, after Orla had been convinced to fly on the airship once again, Uruto and the others pitched in to help clean and repair the Brave Olivine. Once they were done, Mollie, Murdock, and Ludlow arrived to join as well. To everyone else's surprise, Uruto proudly stated he would be joining the Rising Volt Tacklers as their newest member.
In HZ106, Uruto got into an argument with Roy over the messy state of his living quarters. Frustrated, Uruto ran away with Sableye to Manpūku Town, where he met Rayu, a street artist to whom he showed off his Dusk Ball, claiming it housed a powerful Pokémon, though he didn't know exactly who. The next day, Uruto realized Rayu had stolen his Dusk Ball and raced to the town, where he found the boy ready to trade it for a Strong Sphere with Indy and Rubella. He challenged them to a battle and managed to win after his willingness to fight for others resonated with the Pokémon in the Dusk Ball, who finally emerged, revealing itself as a Dragonite. The Explorers duo retreated, but Uruto followed them. In the next episode, he arrived at an Explorers base, but was quickly spotted and locked up. Fortunately, he managed to send Sableye away to get help, who was able to find Roy. The two of them soon fought against Indy and Rubella once more, but they were interrupted by four Rabsca, who were suppressing the battlefield with their Gravity. At this moment, remembering words from his father, he called for Dragonite's strength in order to protect the ones he cared about. This time, Uruto's determination allowed for Dragonite to Mega Evolve, which took out the Rabsca, allowing the two boys to defeat their opponents and escape. While Roy was pleased to see that Dragonite approved him, Uruto felt that it wasn't genuine until he could protect the ones he cared about. He later met with Mollie, who gave him some advice and knew he had run off but did not tell anyone, which he appreciated, and he warmed up at the thought of belonging with the group.
Character

Uruto is Roy's self-proclaimed spirited rival, constantly seeking a battle. He's quick with a snarky comment and easily frustrated, especially when Roy leaves him behind. Despite his arrogant demeanor and sharp tongue, Uruto is actually a skilled Trainer with a strong connection to his Pokémon, enabling them to Mega Evolve, as well as being good with battle tactics, as seen when battling Coral and Sidian on even footing without using Mega Evolution. He can also be surprisingly supportive, encouraging Roy to overcome his fears and fight for his ambitions. Driven by their shared goal of catching the Black Rayquaza, Uruto's impulsive pursuit often leads him into trouble, as seen when he angered a flock of Dodrio and Fearow by trespassing, and also leads to him persistently pursuing Roy to the latter's displeasure. These traits lead to his relationship with Roy being tenuous, as Roy sees him as a nuisance and a liability who will only get in his way and generally doesn't want to put up with him and his over-the-top behavior, always taking any opportunity to escape from Uruto's persistent presence. Despite this, Uruto and Roy have been shown to get along, and Uruto considers him a close friend.

Uruto is shown to be shy and easily flustered around women, as seen with Liko, having a hard time interacting with them as a result. His ineptitude at interacting with girls is displayed when Uruto initially mistook Dot for a boy until Murdock explained that she is his niece, which caused Uruto to freak out because he briefly held her hand before finding out. However, after the events in HZ096, Uruto became comfortable around Liko and developed an admiration for her compassion for Pokémon, even seeing her as a very good friend. Uruto also became friends with Dot and gets along well with her. During the events in HZ106 and HZ107, Uruto came to respect Mollie, as she didn't tell their teammates about him running away and gave him some advice when he returned. Also, Uruto quickly befriended Diana, Liko's grandmother, after finding out that she used the Brave Olivine's observation deck as a room as well. All of these interactions show that his kind nature can effectively overtake his shyness towards women once a friendship or connection has been established with them.
Uruto easily hits it off with Murdock and quickly enjoys his cooking, especially his sweets. He seems to be on good terms with the rest of his teammates, but he mostly hangs out Roy, Liko, and Dot, as his strong friendship with them is part of the reason he decided to join the Rising Volt Tacklers. Uruto eventually comes to enjoy being with the Rising Volt Tacklers, as they taught him to be a team player and that true strength comes from protecting others, especially his friends.

Uruto deep down prefers to battle all out with his Pokémon and is a kind person at heart, and seemingly has a strong moral code, disgusted by the use of Laquium in battle and helping Roy and Liko battle the Explorers without hesitation. This is also shown when Uruto tells the Black Rayquaza to get better soon, as he only wanted to battle it at full strength. Ever since the events in HZ095, Uruto developed a strong dislike towards the Explorers and the way they treat Pokémon. Uruto's detest for the Explorers grows after finding out that they have taken Lucius's remaining five Pokémon captive and gets angry at himself for not doing something when he saw his Kleavor and Lapras trapped in boxes in HZ107, but is assured by his friends that his information is important for their mission.
Similar to Roy, he has also been shown to be rather gluttonous. As shown in HZ095 and HZ097, Uruto suffers from a form of motion sickness, causing him to feel unwell when riding certain vehicles such as buses or boats. Because of this, he feels more confortable sleeping in the Brave Olivine's observation room where he can see the sky outside. Uruto isn't afraid to try new things, as shown in HZ105, when he decided to give surfing a try.
Prior to the events of the series, Uruto was given a Dragonite in a Dusk Ball by his father. As the time passed, however, Dragonite seemed unwilling to come out, which Uruto may have taken as a sign that it did not recognize his strength. Since then, his goal was to become stronger in order to win its approval. It was once he displayed willingness to fight for others when Dragonite reacted and finally appeared before him. Despite this progress, Uruto was still unsure if Dragonite truly approved of him, so he made it his goal to become the strongest in order to protect everyone.

Sableye is Uruto's main partner. It is capable of Mega Evolving into a Mega Sableye.
In HZ090, Sableye Mega Evolved in order to help Roy's Pokémon defeat a Laquium-enhanced Slaking. In HZ092, Sableye was used to assist Roy and Liko's Pokémon in battling two Laquium-enhanced Steelix by Mega Evolving. Sableye has also shown interest in eating Pagogo, likely due to its crystalline body.
In HZ095, Sableye battled Coral's Glalie, with Sableye dominating the battle despite its opponent's use of Laquium. Glalie ended up using Self-Destruct, causing its own defeat and allowing Uruto, Liko, and Roy to escape.
In HZ107, Uruto and Sableye were captured by Spinel and the Explorers at an Explorers base. After being saved by its Trainer, Sableye fled to meet Roy, who guided it there. Once there, Sableye battled with Roy's other Pokémon against Indy and Rubella's Pokémon, and when all seemed lost, the group was saved by Uruto's Dragonite, which used Mega Evolution for the first time under Uruto's command.

Dragonite is Uruto's second known Pokémon. It was given to him by his father and is kept in a Dusk Ball. It seems to only appear when Uruto needs its help to protect others. It is capable of Mega Evolving into a Mega Dragonite.
For a long time, Dragonite seemed unwilling to come out of its Dusk Ball, resulting in Uruto forgetting the identity of the Pokémon inside.
In HZ106, reacting with Uruto's willingness to fight for others, Dragonite appeared before him for the first time and quickly defeated Indy and Rubella's Darmanitan. In the next episode, when Uruto called for its strength in order to protect the ones he cares about, Dragonite appeared once again. This time, it Mega Evolved, allowing it to overpower the opposing Rabsca's Gravity and defeat them. Alongside Roy's Mega Lucario, it defeated the Explorers duo's Zen Mode Darmanitan.
Dragonite's known moves are Dragon Rush and Hyper Beam.
