They battled until Ceruledge was unable to continue and then properly said their goodbyes, bringing closure to both of them.
Mesagoza was introduced as a Stadium card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Scarlet & Violet Series (the Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era). It was first released in the Japanese Violet ex expansion and the English Scarlet & Violet expansion, with artwork by Oswaldo KATO. It allows players to flip a coin once during their turn. If heads, the player searches their deck for a Pokémon, reveals it, and puts it into their hand. Then, the player shuffles their deck.
Trivia
Mesagoza is the most populous city currently known in the Pokémon world, with a population of 756.
For the Video Game Championships division of the 2023 Pokémon World Championships, a special variation of Mesagoza was used from the top 32 onwards. This special variation is festival themed, with the battles taking place at the city's battle court. Fireworks can be seen erupting from behind the school, and the Worlds exclusive battlefield features new camera shots specifically for the tournament. The camera shots introduced for the World Championships would later be added to regular online games in version 2.0.1 of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Mesagoza is designed with Spanish influences.[1] In particular, its design seems to be a composite of several Spanish cities, with its geographical location inspired by Madrid and Toledo in central Spain. The city's size and importance mirror those of Madrid, the capital of Spain and the largest city in both the country and the Iberian Peninsula. Its name combines the Spanish words mesa (“table”) and meseta (“plateau”) with the city name Zaragoza, evoking both the physical geography and a sense of place. Other language versions preserve the Spanish root: German (Mesalona City) pairs mesa with Barcelona; Spanish (Ciudad Meseta) uses meseta, referencing Spain’s central plateau, the Meseta Central; French (Mesaledo) links mesa with Toledo; and Italian (Mesapoli) combines mesa with -poli (“city”).
Its architecture draws inspiration from the cities referenced in the names of its various language versions: Naranja Academy and Uva Academy, which are modeled after Barcelona landmarks such as the Sagrada Família, La Model, and the Hospital de Sant Pau. The city walls are inspired by the Aljafería Palace in Zaragoza, while the bridges leading into the city are based on the Puente de Alcántara over the Tagus River in Toledo. The central plaza blends features from several iconic Spanish squares, including Madrid’s Plaza Mayor, with its pointed tower rooftops, dormer windows, and arched passageways built into the surrounding buildings; Barcelona’s Plaça Reial, with its yellow façades, matching patterned buildings, and palm trees; and Barcelona’s Plaça de Catalunya, marked by its central wind rose and encircling segments, which likely served as the inspiration for the type-specific sectors, each reflecting a distinct Pokémon type. The city streets are inspired by Barcelona’s Park Güell as well as by the historic old towns of Toledo and Zaragoza.
