Mob loot
Drowned have a 3%[JE only] or 8%[BE only] chance to spawn with a nautilus shell in their off-hand, and they always drop that nautilus shell upon death. In Bedrock Edition, this also includes zombies converted into drowned.
Nautiluses[upcoming Mounts of Mayhem] have a 5% chance to drop a nautilus shell when killed by a player or tamed wolf.
Fishing
Nautilus shells are obtainable through fishing, with a 0.8% chance per attempt. See fishing for more details.
Trading
Wandering traders may sell 1 nautilus shell for 5 emeralds.
