Dot's Quaxwell (Japanese: ドットのウェルカモ Dot's Welkamo), or Nidothing's Quaxwell (Japanese: ぐるみんのウェルカモ Gurumin's Welkamo), is the first Pokémon that Dot obtained, as a Quaxly. Quaxwell takes part in her videos to teach young viewers on basic knowledge on how to become a Pokémon Trainer. He is Dot's main battling Pokémon, and is usually outside his Poké Ball.

History
Pre-series
Prior to the series, Quaxwell was a wild Quaxly living in the Brave Olivine alongside of the Rising Volt Tacklers. Eventually, he formed a close bond with Ludlow and Dot. He usually kept Ludlow company when he was fishing or participated in Nidothing's videos.
Pokémon Horizons: The Series
As a wild Pokémon
Quaxwell first debuted as a Quaxly in The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One) accompanied by Nidothing, assisting with her videos about how to be a Pokémon Trainer. In the following episode, Quaxly could be seen again panicking as the Rising Volt Tacklers were traveling through a thunderstorm, heading in Dot's room for safety.
In The Ancient Poké Ball, after the encounter of the Black Rayquaza, Quaxly found the tracker that the Explorers had previously placed on the bottom of the Brave Olivine and gave it to Ludlow, revealing how they had found the group's location before destroying it.
In Special Training with Cap!, Liko and Roy tried to introduce themselves to Dot. As they were waiting for a response on the other side of the door, coming out from the flap of the door was Quaxly, surprising Liko. Quaxly gave Liko and Roy a Dot's message as they were asking her for help in knowing how to get better at Pokémon battles. Later, Quaxly again came out from the flap, this time surprising Roy. Quaxly gave both of them a clue to where the Black Rayquaza was hinted to be last seen.
In An Unexpected Picnic!, with the help of Murdock, Liko gave Ludlow and Dot the opportunity to have a chance of experiencing a picnic, though Dot was hesitant to give a chance, Quaxly gave her a sincere smile and encouraged Dot to come out of her room to make her own sandwich. Quaxly as usual, attended the event with Ludlow and Dot.
In Someone We Can't See! Whosawhatsit?, when Liko disappeared, Dot personally volunteered to help search for her. When asked by Friede if she has a Pokémon in mind that would be ready to enter a Pokémon battle, Quaxly volunteered to battle alongside Dot as her partner.
With Dot
In Quaxly, We Can Do It, Quaxly was officially caught as Dot's first Pokémon. He participated in his first battle against Spinel's Pokémon with the aid of Liko, Roy, and their respective partners, with Quaxly assisting Sprigatito in defeating Magneton. Afterwards, he encouraged Dot to reveal her true identity as Nidothing to Liko, one of her fans, after several previous failures.
In As Long as I'm with My Friends, Quaxly accompanied Dot and other members of the Team to collect ingredients for a curry cook off between Liko and Roy. He used Water Gun to scare off a group of Skwovet and Greedent that attacked Roy and Fuecoco. Afterwards, he happily ate curry alongside his Trainer and the other Rising Volt Tacklers after the curry cook off had been counted as a draw.
In Tinkatink's Ideal Hammer, Quaxly worked with Dot to help a wild Tinkatink get her hammer back from a Orthworm, as Dot had him use Water Gun around the area in order to corner it. Dot's planned work and Quaxly was able to help Tinkatink get her hammer back, and the Metalsmith Pokémon was able to defeat it.
In A Wild Mom Appears!, Dot used Quaxly in a battle against her mother, Franka, and her Midnight Form Lycanroc. Quaxly was initially at a disadvantage due to Lycanroc's use of Counter, but while following Dot's order to aim for Lycanroc's legs, the Duckling Pokémon ended up learning Low Kick and defeated Lycanroc, winning Dot the battle.
In The Plan to Capture Rayquaza, Quaxly and Tinkatink were used to battle Chalce's Medicham, keeping them distracted long enough for Dot to install a kill program into the generator the Explorers were using to lure out the Black Rayquaza. In the following episode, Quaxly helped take on the Black Rayquaza. With assistance from Captain Pikachu's Rising Volt Tackle, Quaxly and Sprigatito were sent flying high enough to launch attacks at Rayquaza. Despite this, Quaxly was eventually taken out by a stray Draco Meteor.
In Dot and Nidothing, Quaxly participated in a livestreamed training battle against Roy's Fuecoco as per Iono's request. However due to his Trainer getting nervous and unable to issue her commands, Quaxly was clueless as what to do and was instantly defeated by Fuecoco as a result. Quaxly soon confronted his Trainer about needing to rely on her Nidothing costume in public. Quaxly then battled against a wild Varoom, with his bravery and determination inspiring Dot to let go of her fears and become more confident in public, allowing her to command Quaxly properly to defeat the Single-Cyl Pokémon.
In Trending Terastallization! Dance, Dance, Quaxly!, Quaxly's battle against Iono's Bellibolt began. Using his superior agility, Quaxly launched a variety of attacks at his opponent, only to activate Bellibolt's Electromorphosis Ability, powering up its Electric-type moves. Although Dot had Quaxly Terastallize for the first time, they were unable to defeat Bellibolt even with Quaxly's newly-learnt Liquidation. Iono then won the battle with Bellibolt's Terastal-boosted Discharge. Despite the loss, Dot and Quaxly still managed to pass their basics test for fully letting loose and having fun in battle, showing how their bond had improved.
In Showdown! The Paldea Elite Four, Quaxly was used in a tag battle alongside Iono's Bellibolt against Poppy's Tinkaton and Copperajah. Both Pokémon struggled to deal damage to their opponents and deal with the effects of Sandstorm, but Quaxly had an idea to use his dancing footwork for triggering Bellibolt's Electromorphosis Ability to strengthen its moves. Dot and Iono soon formed a plan which allowed a Terastallized Quaxly to distract and clash with Tinkaton while a supercharged Bellibolt ambushed and defeated the unsuspecting Copperajah with a powerful Zap Cannon, winning the match by default.
In Food Fit for a Kingambit!, Quaxly was used by Dot at the Anything Goes Café to help calm down some kids who were scared by Kingambit with his dancing skills. Quaxly was then used in a battle against Sidian's Garganacl to spread its salt around to attract more customers to the café. After the job was done, Quaxly and his Trainer soon headed of for the test battle against Larry.
In Dance, Quaxly! The Blue Medali Step!, Quaxly was used against Larry's Dudunsparce. He was paralyzed by Glare and then recalled in favor of Tinkatink. He later went up against Staraptor. He struggled at first, but was motivated by Dot to utilize his dancing skills to boost the power of his attacks to deal more damage to his opponent. Quaxly then suddenly evolved into Quaxwell, surprising everyone and Terastallizing immediately after his Evolution to deal more damage to Staraptor further, but his paralysis effect soon returned. Larry then got serious, Terastallizing Staraptor and defeating Quaxwell with Facade soon after. Despite the loss, Quaxwell and his Trainer still passed the test overall for their opportunistic use of Terastallization, and Dot once again vowed to grow more stronger as a Trainer alongside her partner.
In Shine on, Terastallization! Liko vs. Roy!, Quaxwell was used to battle against Rob's Darumaka during the Tera Training Student Battle Tournament, in which Quaxwell won after Terastallizing. After the events of the tournament, Quaxwell and his Trainer met up with Poppy, who encouraged them on their progress.
In Into a New Sky! The Brave Olivine!, Quaxwell faced off against Lucius's Lapras in a training battle, where he had to avoid most of Lapras's icy attacks. Dot then came up with a plan to have Quaxwell skate on the ice Lapras created to dodge its attacks and hit it with a supereffective Low Kick. Quaxwell was then Terastallized to do more damage, and although Lapras was still standing after the attack, it was impressed by Dot and Quaxwell's strength and returned to its Poké Ball.
In Tinkatink's Hammer Wasn't Made in a Day, while on their way to meet Briar at the Crystal Pool, Quaxwell and the others were pestered by a wild Bombirdier. The Bombirdier stole a metal plate Tinkatink wanted to forge into a new hammer, forcing her, Dot, and Quaxwell to chase after it. Later, Dot tried to Terastallize Quaxwell against the Bombirdier, only to drop her Tera Orb when a second Bombirdier came to help its partner. Once Tinkatink retrieved the plate and forged it into a new hammer, she evolved into Tinkatuff and helped Quaxwell drive the two Item Drop Pokémon into fleeing. Quaxwell and Dot then praised Tinkatuff for how much she had grown.
In Encounters at the Crystal Pool, Quaxwell and Dot reached the Crystal Pool on Oni Mountain. After Friede left to look for Briar, a wild Terastalized Milotic emerged from the water and attacked the group. Quaxwell fought alongside Crocalor and Floragato, struggling at first due to Milotic's constant swimming and dodging. Dot used Quaxwell to lure Milotic out, so Crocalor could calm it down and it decided to let the group stay. Quaxwell was then used in a battle against Perrin's Leafeon, as his Trainer wanted information regarding Kleavor from her. Quaxwell struggled due to the type disadvantage at first, but he soon learnt Air Cutter to gain the upper hand and eventually defeated Leafeon.
In The Search for Kleavor!, Quaxwell accompanied his trainer on Tengu Mountain in seach for Lucius's Kleavor, along the way the group were hypnotized by a wild Trevenant, causing them to walk in circles until Quaxwell tripped on a rock, waking him up and helping him in turn to wake the rest of the group up, Quaxwell then worked together with Perrin's Hisuian Growlithe in fending off Trevenant. Quaxwell and Dot then reunited with the rest of Liko's group in their search for Kleavor.
In Kleavor the Solitary Warrior, Dot, Quaxwell and their friends encountered Lucius's Kleavor, with Quaxwell, Floragato, and Crocalor battling it to show their strength in order to convince the Pokémon to join their group. Kleavor had the advantage of strength and battle experience, but their strategies eventually paid off in dealing big damage to it, causing it to use Stone Axe to take them more seriously. In the end despite Terastallizing and doing major damage to Kleavor, Quaxwell and her two friends were still defeated, but Kleavor was impressed enough by their strength to join their group.
In Entei's Fierce Battle Cry!, Quaxwell faced what was presumed to be Lucius' Entei along with Captain Pikachu, Floragato, and Crocalor. Although they failed to defeat it, Entei recognized their strength, but revealed itself to be a wild Pokémon and not the one the Rising Volt Tacklers were looking for.
In Over the Top!, Quaxwell, Floragato, and Crocalor faced Geeta's Glimmora and two Glimmet. After a great team effort, Quaxwell and Crocalor were defeated, with the only Floragato and Glimmora remaining on the field, but Liko's Pokémon eventually managed to win thanks to her Overgrow ability. In this way, the Rising Volt Tacklers were granted entry into Area Zero to search for Entei.
In The Pillar of Fire, Quaxwell and his friends battled against Lucius's "Entei". Quaxwell was struggling due to "Entei" protecting itself with Burning Bulwark, and its surprising resistance to Water-type attacks. He then managed to learn Aqua Cutter in the midst of battle, allowing him to damage "Entei" more effectively. After learning from Briar about "Entei" actually being a Gouging Fire, Quaxwell and his friends formed a new plan of attack. Quaxwell Terastallized along with Crocalor and Floragato, managing to deal good hits on Gouging Fire, even putting out its flames with consecutive Aqua Cutter attacks. After Captain Pikachu stunned Gouging Fire and Floragato took back the other Ancient Poké Balls, Quaxwell's group as a whole passed Gouging Fire's test, earning its trust before it returned to its Ancient Poké Ball. In the next episode, Quaxwell joined the fight against Black Rayquaza but was ultimately defeated.
In The Rising Volt Tacklers vs. The Explorers!, Quaxwell battled against Chalce's Medicham, despite his opponent anticipating and countering his moves, thanks to Dot's unpredictable tactics, Quaxwell was able to gain the upper hand in the fight to deal more damage to Medicham. In the next episode, Quaxwell Terastallized and teamed up with Floragato, Crocalor, and Ceruledge in order to face off against Gibeon's Zygarde. Despite the group's efforts, however, they were still no match for the Order Pokémon. After the battle, Zygarde got up and revealed it was testing Liko's and her friends' strength and resolve all along.
Personality and characteristics
As their species are known for, Quaxwell, while he was a Quaxly, loves to be clean and dislikes being dirty, as seen in Special Training with Cap!, when Roy attempted to touch the Duckling Pokémon, but unexpectedly got his hand slapped by him. Despite this, Quaxly has shown to be friendly, as he befriended Liko's Sprigatito and Roy's Fuecoco right away, even staying friends with them after they both evolved. Quaxly also has a habit of making poses for various reasons and seems to be a good dancer. Quaxly has been shown to be outgoing as he often accompanies Ludlow and watches the rest of the members of the Rising Volt Tacklers.
In addition to Ludlow, Quaxwell is very loyal to Dot, not needing to be called by her when needed in her room. Quaxwell is also a voice of reason for Dot, encouraging her to participate in social interactions and other situations she usually avoids. Quaxly even chose Dot to be his Trainer, as seen in Quaxly, We Can Do It. His closeness to Dot has been seen when he would sit on her shoulders. In addition, Quaxly would show his support in having new friends join Dot's team, as shown in Tinkatink's Ideal Hammer, when he gave his Trainer a Poké Ball in order to catch a Tinkatink they befriended.
Behind the scene of their livestream in The Door That Never Opens, Quaxly can be seen being skeptical when Dot fumbles or gives generic advice. Quaxly acts like a director, keeping Dot focused on the streams, avoiding a potential break in character live or when making videos. Quaxly also would help with Dot's fans as Nidothing, as shown in Mission: Find Oinkologne's Partner!, when he accompanied Liko and Roy to meet a fan that asked his Trainer for help. In addition, Quaxly would make sure that no one knows about Dot's identity as Nidothing, as shown in Tinkatink's Ideal Hammer, when he blocked the camera so his Trainer wasn't exposed, after Tinkatink tried to take the zipper from Dot's costume.
He and Tinkatink became close friends after meeting each other, as he went out of his way to help Tinkatink retrieve her hammer from a wild Orthworm. Ever since they became teammates, he keeps an eye on Tinkatink, as he prevents her from making hammers from unnecessary items and keeps her out of trouble. They also formed a sibling relationship, as he comes to see her as his little sister and is protective of her. After Quaxly defeated Franka's Lycanroc in a battle, Quaxly and Tinkatink shared a happy hug to celebrate his win. They maintain their bond after they both evolved at different points. Quaxwell finds Gimmighoul annoying when it would take control of him, Dot and Tinkatuff into collecting coins for it. However, Quaxwell quickly accepted Gimmighoul as his teammate and befriended it.
Quaxwell is shown to be aware of his surroundings. In Quaxly, We Can Do It, before Arboliva's Ancient Poké Ball shined, Quaxwell as a Quaxly sensed something strange when the van that Spinel was operating went past Liko, Roy, and Dot. He also sneakily hid next to the kitchen door after Friede thought the coast was clear in The Door That Never Opens. After his Evolution, Quaxwell has become even more confident than before and has been seen practicing his dance moves more often, and incorporating dancing to his battle style as a whole.
Due to being a Water-type, Quaxwell enjoys being in the water and doing various activities in it, even becoming sad when he doesn't get a chance to play in it, as seen in HZ105. Upon seeing his friends surfing with their Trainers, Quaxwell took an interest in it and encouraged Dot to try it.

Pokémon GO
From March 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., to March 11, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time and April 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., to April 22, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time, as part of Pokémon GO's Pokémon Horizons: The Series Celebration Event[4][5], several Pokémon based on those encountered in the animated series appeared more frequently in the wild, in raids, from Eggs, from Field Research tasks, and during surprise encounters, with Quaxly appearing in the wild, from Field Research tasks, and during surprise encounters.
Trivia
- Out of the three Paldea first partner Pokémon featured in Pokémon Horizons: The Series, Quaxwell is the only one to:
- Have been obtained in the region his species was introduced in. Ironically, Quaxly's Pokédex entry from Scarlet says the species is originally foreign from Paldea.
- Evolve during a battle with a Gym Leader.
- He is also the first partner Pokémon overall to have done so.
- Receive a Pokédex entry for its middle stage.
