From Kitakami—Continued (Japanese: 続・キタカミの里から Sequel - From Kitakami) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Kieran & Hydrapple and Carmine & Sinistcha. It was a follow-up to the story event From Kitakami—Prelude.
First run
The event first ran from August 18 to 28, 2025. The "Kieran Master Fair" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Kieran & Hydrapple from the beginning of the event to September 27, 2025.
In this run, players could earn event points by completing battles. Players received rewards based on the number of points accumulated, including 5★ Scout Tickets, a Field Move Candy Coin, a 5★ Power-Up, and medals. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day.
The player could battle using Kieran & Hydrapple or Carmine & Sinistcha to obtain +0.6× bonus points; Juliana & Koraidon, Paulo & Lycanroc, or Tina & Flareon to obtain +0.4× bonus points; and any unlisted sync pairs with the
Paldea theme skill to obtain +0.2× bonus points.
This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with one or fewer sync pairs fainting and sync pairs with specific theme skills on the team.
For the duration of this run, a splash screen featuring art of Carmine & Sinistcha and Kieran & Hydrapple was displayed when opening the game.
Second run
The event reran again from August 30 to September 19, 2025 as a bonus event in the Trainer Tales Championship. This run only contained the story areas; the battles and event points did not return. In addition, no missions were available, and no medals could be earned.
Plot
Sometime after Carmine ran off to find Juliana, Juliana brings Carmine and Kieran to meet the player, Paulo and Tina at Pasio Academy. After introductions are made, Carmine asserts that Pasio Academy is nothing compared to Blueberry Academy. Kieran apologizes for his sister's rudeness, but Carmine retorts that the ex-Champion of the League Club needs some pride so others will respect them. In response to Paulo's confusion, Juliana explains that Blueberry Academy's League Club operates the BB League, with Lacey herself being one of their Elite Four. Kieran explains that he was their Champion until Juliana arrived as an exchange student, and he lost his title to her. When Tina asks if Carmine has any titles, Carmine admits that she doesn't have any, being too busy with extracurricular activities, but she claims her own strength is beyond any of their Elite Four. Juliana then proposes a three-on-three match between schools to settle the debate. Tina, Paulo, and the player agree, with Tina remarking that Pokémon battles are a shortcut to being friends, something Kieran finds comforting.
The Pasio students end up victorious, much to Carmine's dismay. She declares that would have crushed them if they could Terastallize on Pasio as well. Then, Lear and Professor Bellis arrive to remark that it could be a possibility: just like how sync stones enable Mega Evolution and Dynamaxing, Professor Bellis believes they can enable Pokémon to Terastallize as well. She borrowed a Tera Orb from a Paldean Trainer to test how it reacted to sync stones and determined that sync stone energy might be able to activate Terastallization. Lear has dubbed it "Sync Terastallization" and says it's only hypothetical at the moment, as they have yet to find anyone who can actually do it. Juliana, Carmine, and Kieran discover their usual technique with the Tera Orb don't work, so Carmine promptly declares that she will be the pioneer of Sync Terastallization before running off to storm Pasio Academy.
Kieran sighs and goes off to find Carmine with Paulo in tow, and eventually they run into Blue, Wally, and Hop. After explaining the situation to them, Blue theorizes that Kieran, having just arrived on Pasio, is unable to Sync Terastallize because he's just unfamiliar with using sync stones. He asks Wally and Hop to demonstrate, so Wally Mega Evolves his Gallade and Hop Dynamaxes his Cinderace. Blue explains that to fully draw out the sync stones' power, a Trainer must have a strong bond with their Pokémon and a strong conviction, citing the feeling of wanting to beat your rival as an example of the latter. At Paulo's inquiry, Kieran admits that while Juliana is his friend, she's also much stronger than him and he would have to be as strong as Nemona to be her rival. Blue calls him out for being meek, saying that if he has a strong desire to beat someone and never lose to them, then that's his rival regardless of what others think. Wally adds that his rival is someone he looks up to, and Kieran could just ask Juliana to be his rival if he's not certain. Hop chimes in to remark that there are other ways of competing aside from strength in a battle, and one has reason to be confident if there is something they are better at than their rival. Paulo suggests that Kieran make his goal to Sync Terastallize before Juliana and see if he feels more comfortable calling her rival after that. Kieran ponders that not everything should be about winning and gets the courage to become Juliana's rival. With that settled, Blue declares they start his Sync Tersastallization training.
Meanwhile, Tina finally spots Carmine, having just finished a battle with Hoenn Elite Four Phoebe and discovering how to Sync Terastallize in the process. After Phoebe leaves, Carmine brings up Tina's remark from before about becoming friends and asks her to look after her brother if they do become friends. She brings up a time where Kieran caused a lot of trouble after getting carried away trying to win, and asks her to lend an ear if he's stressed. Tina promises that everyone on Pasio will help look out for him, though she's also surprised that Carmine does care for her brother. After calming down, Carmine remarks that Tina reminds her of a friend who's kind of an idiot.
Later, the Kitakami siblings show off Sync Terastallization, to the praise of Juliana, Bellis and Lear. Juliana feels bummed out that she couldn't grasp the technique, and Kieran draws up the courage to ask Juliana to be his rival. After a moment's pause, Juliana recalls that he asked something similar before—to start over from zero and be friends again—and admits that she always saw him as a rival. She then asks the two to teach her how to Sync Terastallize.

| Kieran | No fair, Sis! |
| Kieran | You already know all the spots on Pasio 'cause you keep going on ahead alone! |
| Carmine | You snooze, you lose! It's not my fault you're so slow, Kiki! |
| Kieran | Gah... Just wait and see—I'm gonna find all the cool spots that even you don't know about! |

| (Pasio Academy; the player is talking to Paulo and Tina) | |
| This is a story about Carmine and Kieran's early days on Pasio... | |
| ??? | Hi, <player>! Hey, everyone! |
| (Paulo, Tina, and the player turn to see Juliana with Carmine and Kieran) | |
| Juliana | Let me introduce you to my friends Carmine and Kieran! They're students from Blueberry Academy—and they're siblings, too! We became friends on a school trip. |
| Kieran | I'm Kieran. Nice to meet you. |
| Juliana | They just got to Pasio, so I was just showing them around! |
| Carmine | If you two were already here, why didn't you come see me sooner? When I heard you'd arrived, I looked all over for you! |
| (Carmine glances around) | |
| Carmine | Anyway... This is Pasio Academy? It's nothing special compared to Blueberry Academy. |
| Tina | Huh? |
| Kieran | Sorry my sis is so rude... She doesn't mean to offend anyone... |
| Carmine | Stop that nonsense, Kiki! They won't take you seriously with that attitude! You're the ex-Champion of the League Club, so have some pride, will you? |
| Paulo | Ex-Champion? |
| Kieran | Oh, uh... It's no big deal... I'm nothing compared to Juliana... |
| (Paulo folds his arms and stares silently at Kieran) | |

| Juliana | You might have already heard from Lacey, but... Blueberry Academy's League Club has the BB League—a system that ranks you by how strong you are! They even have an Elite Four and a Champion! |
| (Flashback to Lacey) | |
| Juliana | As a matter of fact, Lacey is one of the BB League Elite Four! |
| Paulo | Wow! If Lacey's in the Elite Four, she must be really strong. |
| (Back to present) | |
| Tina | And the person at the BB League's top must have been... |
| Juliana | That's right—Kieran! Cool, right? |
| Kieran | But Juliana's the BB League Champion now. When she was an exchange student at Blueberry Academy, I totally lost to her. |
| Tina | How about you, Carmine? Do you have any titles of your own? |
| Carmine | No way. I was too busy with extracurricular stuff! Didn't have time for League matches. But if we're talking actual skill, I'm WAY above any of the Elite Four! |
| Tina | Really? |
| Carmine | What's with that look?! You think I'm lying? |
| Juliana | Well, since we're all here, why don't we have a three-on-three team battle? |
| Paulo | A friendly match between schools, huh? |
| Tina | Sounds great!: Yeah! I'm game, too! |
| Paulo | Sure—let's become better friends!: Yeah, I'm sure we'll work together in the future anyway. |
| Tina | After all, Pokémon battles are a shortcut to becoming friends! |
| Kieran | Heh... Friends, huh... |
| Carmine | You wanna battle us on your home turf? OK, bring it on! I'll show you how strong I am—and teach you a lesson! |

| (Juliana, Carmine, and Kieran battle Paulo, the player, and Tina; fade to after the battle) | |
| Carmine | ...Fine, I guess you pass. Barely. I would've crushed you if I could Terastallize on this island, too. |
| ??? | Well, that's a possibility! |
| ??? | You might be able to Terastallize here! |
| (Lear and Professor Bellis arrive) | |
| Paulo | Professor Bellis! Lear! |
| Professor Bellis | You all know how we can Mega Evolve and Dynamax with the power of sync stones? Well in the same way, you now might be able to Terastallize, too! |
| Carmine | But you can only Terastallize under special circumstances! |
| Professor Bellis | Bingo! You might be able to Terastallize if you use sync stones' energy instead. Normally, you'd need special energy and an item called a Tera Orb. So I borrowed a Tera Orb from a Trainer from Paldea to research how it would react with sync stones! |
| Juliana | I heard you were researching this, but I didn't know you'd already put it to use! |
| Carmine | In that case, why didn't you tell me sooner?! |
| Kieran | Wowzers! The technology on Pasio is so cool! |
| Lear | On Pasio, the Terastal phenomenon is called "Sync Terastallization"! Theoretically, we should be able to use it already. |
| Carmine | Sheesh! Then I should've used it during our battle just now! |
| Lear | Hah! Go ahead and try, then! |
| Carmine | Don't have to tell me twice! |
| (Fade to black; fade back to Carmine, Juliana, and Kieran) | |
| Carmine | Huh? It's not reacting at all! |
| Juliana | You're right. Even if we do what we normally would, it's no use. |
| Kieran | Do we have to use a different technique than the one we use with Tera Orbs? |
| Lear | Precisely! We still haven't heard of anyone who's successfully Sync Terastallized. Which is why we're here in search of Pasio Academy students who can help! |
| Carmine | In that case, I'll be the pioneer of Sync Terastallizing! I won't let Juliana, Kiki, or anyone on Pasio surpass me! Now that that's decided, the only thing left for me to do is just go for it! Time to storm Pasio Academy! |
| (Carmine turns around and runs into Pasio Academy) | |
| Paulo | She's really competitive... |
| Kieran | Oh, Sis... |
| Juliana | It seems Carmine hasn't changed at all. |
| Professor Bellis | Well, if she can take the initiative and spread the word about Sync Terastallizing, that'd be perfect! |
| Lear | The rest of you better work hard to keep up! |
| (Lear and Professor Bellis leave) | |
| Kieran | Hmm, in that case... I guess I'll run after Sis for now... |
| Juliana | Right! |
| (Transition to Paulo and Kieran in the courtyard of the academy) | |
| Paulo | Hmm, did they not come this way? |
| Kieran | I guess we lost everyone... This school's so big... |
| ??? | Yo! |
| (Blue, Wally, and Hop arrive) | |
| Paulo | Oh! Hey, Blue! |
| Blue | What's up, Paulo? Lookin' for something? Huh? Who's this? Haven't seen him around. |
| Kieran | U-um... H-hello... |
| Paulo | This is Kieran. He came here from Blueberry Academy, and— |
| (Fade to black; fade back to Paulo and Kieran) | |
| Paulo | ...So now we're here, looking for his sister who ran off. |
| Kieran | S-sorry my sis has caused so much trouble... |
| Blue | Hahaha! That sister of yours sure seems feisty! |
| Hop | Terastallizing, huh... If I remember correctly, that makes a Pokémon crystallize and change type, right? |
| Wally | If I could master that, Pokémon battles would be so much more interesting! |
| Kieran | I wanna do it too, but the technique is a little different from what I'm used to with regular Terastallizing... |
| Blue | You said you only just got to Pasio, right, Kieran? Which probably means you're still not used to using sync stones. |
| Kieran | Yeah, I think you're right... |
| Blue | Then I might be able to help you with them. Hop! Wally! Show 'em what you got! |
- What It Takes to Be a Rival

| (Courtyard; Blue, Paulo, and Kieran watch Wally and Hop, who are standing with Gallade and Cinderace) | |
| Wally | Gallade! Mega Evolve! |
| (Gallade Mega Evolves) | |
| Hop | Cinderace! Dynamax! |
| (Cinderace Dynamaxes) | |
| Kieran | Whoa! |
| (Fade to black; fade back in on the group, but Wally and Hop have recalled their Pokémon) | |
| Kieran | That's amazing! This is my first time seeing either of those phenomena! |
| Blue | The way to bring out sync stones' full strength... is to have a strong bond with Pokémon! And for the Trainer to have a strong will! |
| Kieran | A strong will? |
| Blue | Yep! For example... that feeling of wanting to beat your rival...and not wanting to lose! |
| Kieran | A rival, huh... |
| Paulo | What about Juliana? Isn't she your rival? |
| Kieran | Well... She's my friend, but... She's way too strong, so I don't think she'd want someone like me as her rival... |
| Paulo | ... ... ... |
| Kieran | Besides, Nemona's already her rival. I gotta be as strong as Nemona if I wanna be Juliana's rival... |
| Blue | Whoa there. Why so meek? |
| Kieran | Huh? |
| Blue | Who cares what others think? If you've got a strong desire to beat someone and never want to lose to them, then that's your rival! Even if you've never beaten them! |
| Kieran | Really? Even if it's someone you look up to? |
| Wally | My rival is also a Trainer I look up to. But if you can't help but worry... why don't you just ask Juliana to be your rival? |
| Hop | Yeah! Besides, competing doesn't always have to be about strength in battle! For example, there's also Pokémon knowledge... and how well you can hype up the crowd in stadium battles and contests! If there's anything you're better at than your rival, then you have every reason to be confident! |
| Kieran | Something I'm better at than Juliana... |
| Paulo | You could make it your goal to Sync Terastallize before Juliana. How about that? And once you gain more confidence, you might feel OK calling her your rival, right? |
| Kieran | Yeah... Not everything should be about winning. It's probably good to have a rival—someone you can compete against and grow stronger with. Thanks, everyone. I... I'm gonna be Juliana's rival! I got this! |
| (Paulo, Wally, and Hop laugh) | |
| Blue | Awesome! Then let's start training so you can Sync Terastallize! |

| (Large lecture hall; Carmine is smiling at Phoebe) | |
| Tina | Oh! There you are! |
| (Tina approaches Carmine and Phoebe) | |
| Carmine | Huh? Did you follow me here? Hah. Then it's too little, too late! I can Sync Terastallize now! |
| Tina | What?! Really? |
| Carmine | I kind of just figured it out while battling her! |
| Phoebe | The moment her Pokémon started to sparkle, I felt a difference in their attacks! So intriguing! |
| Carmine | I'm SUCH a genius! |
| Tina | I can't believe you were able to Sync Terastallize for the first time against a Hoenn Elite Four member! I guess you truly are amazing, Carmine! I kinda respect you now! |
| Carmine | Hah! I like your honesty. Go on—respect me even more! |
| (Phoebe turns away slightly) | |
| Phoebe | Uh-huh, got it. |
| (Phoebe turns back to Carmine and Tina) | |
| Phoebe | Sorry. My friend is calling me. I need to go. |
| Tina | Huh? But no one else is here... |
| Carmine | What? Can you see ghosts or something? |
| Phoebe | Hmm. Yeah, I guess so? |
| Carmine | Haha! You're pretty interesting! |
| Phoebe | Well, see you! |
| (Phoebe leaves) | |
| Carmine | OK. I should go show Juliana and Kiki what I just did right away. |
| Tina | I'm sure everyone will be super surprised! |
| (Carmine is silent for a moment, then turns towards Tina) | |
| Tina | What's wrong? |
| Carmine | Um... Earlier you said Pokémon battles are a shortcut to making friends, right? |
| Tina | Hm? Yeah, I did. |
| Carmine | If you're willing to be friends with Kiki... could you look after him awhile? |
| Tina | Sure, but...why? |
| Carmine | I'm only gonna tell you 'cause you seem like a genuine person, but... there was a time Kiki caused a lot of trouble 'cause he got so carried away trying to win. So if he ever seems stressed about something, could you lend him an ear? |
| Tina | Oh, is that it? Of course I will! Besides, <player>, Paulo, and everyone else on Pasio are here for him, too! |
| Carmine | OK. That's a relief. |
| Tina | I'm surprised you truly care about your brother! |
| Carmine | Huh?! What do you mean? Hmm... Something about this feels so familiar. Oh, I know. You sort of remind me of my friend who's kind of an idiot! |
| Tina | Wha—?! What are you trying to say, huh? |
| (Carmine and Tina laugh; transition to Carmine and Kieran outside the school; Carmine Sync Terastallizes Sinistcha) | |
| Carmine | Heheh! How's that? |
| Kieran | Now it's my turn. |
| (Kieran Sync Terastallizes Hydrapple) | |
| Juliana | Whoaaa! Amazing, you two! |
| Professor Bellis | My! What talent! |
| Lear | Well done, both of you! |
| Juliana | Bummer. I couldn't grasp the technique after all. |
| Kieran | Heh... I don't think I've ever seen Juliana make that face. |
| Carmine | Hah! I like that look—keep being disappointed! |
| (Kieran is silent for a moment) | |
| Kieran | ...OK! |
| (Kieran walks up to Juliana) | |
| Kieran | U-um... Hey, Juliana... |
| Juliana | Hm? |
| Kieran | If you'd like, could you maybe be...my rival? |
| Juliana | Your rival? After all this time? |
| (Juliana is silent for a moment) | |
| Juliana | That reminds me, you asked me something similar before, didn't you? |
| (Fade to black) | |
| Kieran | Could we start over from zero and be friends again? |
| (Fade back in on Kieran and Juliana) | |
| Juliana | I've always considered you my rival—not just my friend! |
| Kieran | Wowzers... Really? I never knew! |
| (Paulo and Tina cheer) | |
| Juliana | Hey! Could you teach me more about Sync Terastallizing? |
