Infamous Pokéstar Villains (Japanese: ポケウッドの名悪役 Infamous Villains of Pokéwood) was a costume event in Pokémon Masters EX, and a sequel to the costume event New Heroes Are Born. It was focused on the sync pairs Brycen-Man & Zoroark and Bellelba & Swoobat.

During this event, players could earn event vouchers from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

The player could battle using Brycen-Man & Zoroark or Bellelba & Swoobat to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Diantha (Special Costume) & Keldeo, Rosa & Snivy/Servine/Serperior, Nate & Braviary, or Olympia & Sigilyph to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and any unlisted sync pairs with the Unova, Psychic, or Dark theme skills to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.

This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.

In addition, players could earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.

First run

The event first ran from April 30 to May 17, 2024. The "Brycen-Man Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Brycen-Man & Zoroark from the beginning of the event to May 20, 2024, and the "Bellelba Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Bellelba & Swoobat from May 2 to 20, 2024.

In this run, the type of voucher that players could earn was Event Voucher D. Event mission rewards included medals, Gems, Battle Points, a Sprint Move Candy Coin, and a Field Move Candy Coin.

Second run

The event reran from June 8 to 24, 2025. The "Super Spotlight Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Barry (Special Costume) & Heracross, Selene (Special Costume) & Scizor, Brycen-Man & Zoroark, and Bellelba & Swoobat from June 6 to the end of the event.

In this run, the type of voucher that players could earn was Event Voucher E. Event missions were changed to reward only medals and Gems.

Plot

Sometime before Barry and Selene made their spectacular debut as heroes, a crowd gathers in town. A strange man approaches them, monologuing about the "so-called utopia for people and Pokémon" that is Pasio. Nate and Rosa recognise him as Brycen-Man, who declares he'll destroy the island and sends out his Zoroark. As the crowd panics, a brave knight steps up to protect them, declaring she won't let him severing the bonds of all sync pairs without facing her and her Keldeo. Brycen-Man declares that she will kneel when he ends her with his dark, secret arts. Keldeo endures Zoroark's attack and retaliates, defeating Brycen-Man who concedes defeat for now and flees.

As the shooting for the performance wraps up, Diantha congratulates everyone for their work. Nate and Rosa both express their admiration for the two actors, and after they switch back to their normal clothes, Diantha can't help but compliment Brycen's performance, remarking how he's the marquee star of Pokéstar Studios, with Rosa exclaiming how his performance was better than the time she costarred with him as the Riolu Girl.

Brycen, however, is more focused on any aspects he can use to captivate audiences. As he explains to Diantha, he had recently met a young man who was trying to figure out his path in life. Though he had meant to offer him advice only, Brycen was also inspired by his passion and drive to keep moving without limiting his potential and decided to reevaluate his path as an actor. Diantha relates to being inspired by younger generations, and promises them both to continue their best efforts to shine on screen.

After the three leave, Brycen muses to himself that Brycen-Man is, at the end of the day a single character, and there is only so much he can do with him no matter how much he refines his acting. He ponders the possibility of exploring other roles, but decides against it under the basis that villains are always on short supply. As he laments that audiences would most likely enjoy Brycen-Man collaborating with another charismatic villain, Sabrina approaches and offers her assistance.

A few days later, the brave knight faces off against Brycen-Man once more, now supported by the arrival of Bellelba, queen of the Land of Enchantment, who proclaims she'll deliver a serving of pain. Despite the power-up of Zoroark, the brave knight declares she and Keldeo won't give up and will stop their evil deeds. Hearing this, Bellelba snarls that she'll simply extract the knight's life energy and orders her Swoobat to attack. Privately, Diantha notes Sabrina's acting is great, but she also notices something is worrying her.

After the shoot, Rosa compliments on Sabrina's Bellelba being just as impressive as Brycen-Man. Later, Diantha and Brycen approach her to ask about her apparent worry. Sabrina expresses her concern that, while she can see into the future as a psychic, she cannot see how her future will unravel if she devotes herself to acting, especially worrying it might limit her potential as a Gym Leader. Diantha and Brycen sympathize with her concerns, but they also want Sabrina to enjoy the joys of acting and think it would be a shame if she gives up a route she shows talent for. Suddenly, Diantha brings up a famous fortune teller from Kalos, and offers to bring Sabrina there for her to divine Sabrina's future.

In her fortune-telling hall, Olympia proclaims Sabrina's concerns that her future is unforeseeable, and that seeing the future of others is her own calling. That said, she also tells Sabrina, as a fellow psychic, that she would surely know that the future is not shaped by one's power, nor is a foretold future a future that will happen, and that it can change and be changed based on one's effort and choices. Instead, she brings up that what shapes the future are bonds, be they people or Pokemon, and that her interactions with others are what led her here and what will decide her future. Thinking back to the time she teamed up with Elesa and Fantina, Sabrina decides to embrace acting. Later that day, the three are approached by the Masked Royal and Crasher Wake, who have a favor to ask of Brycen-Man and Bellelba.

A few days later in the arena, Bellelba has captured a Poké Kid as a hostage, threatening to turn her into a chair or even a table with her magic, and her Swoobat easily knocks out the Masked Royal's Incineroar and Crasher Wake's Floatzel. Next to her, Brycen-Man is displeased with Bellelba resorted to cheap unnecessary tactics to squash these heroes, declaring that she's tarnishing the reputation of his darkest path, with Belleba dispraising his boastful talk despite his losing streak and that all that matters is that she stands victorious at the end. Though Crasher Wake and the Masked Royal are defeated and admit so, they declares that there are other heroes on the Pasio who will carry on their legacy, something the villains gladly welcome the challenge.

Elsewhere, Barry and Selene are dismayed at the defeat of their idols. When Penny asks them what they are going to do, they declare they'll take the villains on fair and square!

On the day of the battle, Barry and Selene have dressed in their costumes to challenge Brycen-Man and Bellelba at the arena, with Grusha, Diantha, Nate, Rosa and Penny in the audience watching. As the villains argue over their methods, Barry sends out his Heracross, prompting Brycen-Man to summon his Zoroark. Bellelba and Selene send out their Swoobat and Scizor respectively, with the villain declaring she'll target Selene first. As they clash, Brycen-Man declares that their talents are wasted as heroes, and they should join him as his underlings. In response, Barry and Selene Mega Evolve their Pokemon, something Bellelba derides as them being show-offs. Despite the power of their bonds of evil, the heroes' finishing moves defeat the villains, who swear revenge and retreat, with Barry and Selene declaring that they'll be there to stop them. In the audience, a Camper and a Lass exclaim that while heroes are cool, they're also becoming a fan for the villains as well.

After the fight, Barry and Selene discuss about the villains, with Penny remarking that a villain has to serve as the challenge to allow heroes to grow and shine bright. Nearby, Diantha congratulates Brycen and Sabrina on their brilliant performance, while the Masked Royal and Crasher Wake thank the two for showing up to allow the rookie heroes to shine. Sabrina chuckles, declaring that she got a glimpse of a very entertaining future.

Rosa	Yup! "Brycen-Man" was the first Pokéstar Studios movie I appeared in. He was so in character, even back then, that you‘d never guess how cool and collected he actually is!
Diantha	I've heard that Brycen-Man is a popular villain in Unova.
Brycen	... ... ...
Rosa	What's wrong, Brycen?
Brycen	Oh, my apologies. I was reflecting on my earlier performance... I'm wondering if there's a way to captivate audiences even more through my acting.
Nate	W-wow, you're so dedicated...
Diantha	Even I think your acting is top-notch, Brycen... Is there a reason why you're thinking about this now?
Brycen	Not too long ago...
(Flashback to Grusha)
Brycen	I met a young man here on Pasio. He was trying to figure out his path forward in life.
(Back to present)
Brycen	My intent was to give him some advice, but... I was also deeply inspired by his youthful passion, and his drive to keep moving forward without limiting his potential. He made me feel that I should reevaluate my path forward as an actor.
Diantha	I know that feeling. I'm often inspired and energized when I interact with younger generations. Let's both put our best effort into our acting so that we can always shine on screen!
Brycen	Thank you, Diantha. I appreciate the three of you coming out today to join me. I may ask you to act with me again sometime, if that's all right with you.
Rosa	Of course! I'd love to!
Nate	Yeah! You can call on us any time!
Diantha	I look forward to acting with you again too, Brycen!
(Diantha, Nate, and Rosa walk away, leaving Brycen alone)
Brycen	All things considered... Brycen-Man is just one character. No matter how much I refine my acting, there's only so much I can do with him. Should I challenge myself and explore other roles? No, maybe not...we're always short on villains... If only there were another villain with the charisma to stand alongside Brycen-Man. I'm sure audiences would enjoy that...

Diantha	We won't give up, even if there are two of you! Keldeo and I will stop your evil deeds!
(Diantha's Keldeo cries out)
Bellelba	Hmph! What an annoying goody two-shoes! Fine! I'll just extract your life energy!
(Bellelba's Swoobat cries out)
Diantha	(Sabrina sure can act!) (But...)
(Transition to Diantha, Brycen, and Sabrina out of costume talking to Rosa and Nate)
Rosa	Wow, Sabrina! Your Bellelba was just as impressive as Brycen-Man!
Brycen	Mhm...
Nate	When did you learn how to act like that?!
(Sabrina chuckles; transition to Diantha and Brycen approaching her alone)
Diantha	Sabrina! Could we talk for a bit?

Diantha	Considering that was your Pasio acting debut, Sabrina, I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by how well you can act! But I also noticed that you seemed worried about something.
Brycen	If something's troubling you, would you like to talk about it with us?
Sabrina	You two are truly perceptive. ...As a psychic, I have the power to see the future. However, what I can't see is how my own future will unfold if I devote myself to acting. And while I enjoy acting, I'm honestly quite worried as whether I should continue it... What if it limits my potential and growth as a Pokémon Trainer or Gym Leader? Or, if I try to do both, am I even capable of making it work? I can't stop thinking about it...
Brycen	... ... ...
Diantha	I see... So, even a psychic like yourself still worries about the future—just like us. Or perhaps your worries are much bigger than ours... Personally, I want you to experience the joys of acting! You've found a path for yourself where you can truly shine. It would be such a shame if you did not see where it takes you!
Brycen	I agree with Diantha.

Diantha	Oh, I know! If you're not able to see your own future... I know a famous fortune teller from the Kalos region. Why don't we ask her to divine your future?

Olympia	People, Pokémon... Your encounters with them are what shape your future. The stars alone did not lead you here—the bonds you've formed played their part, too. Such bonds can be formed in a Pokémon battle. Recall the path you've walked thus far, and the path forward shall be made clear.

Brycen-Man	Hmph... Bellelba! Stop using such unnecessary tactics! We can squash them without resorting to such measures! You're tarnishing the reputation of my darkest path!
Bellelba	Hmph! Boastful talk for one who constantly loses to his opponents! You mustn't allow your pride to interfere with claiming what you desire! I care not what methods I must use...so long as I stand victorious in the end.
Brycen-Man	Argh...
Bellelba	In any event...with this, Pasio is now OURS! I'll make sure to extract every last drop of life energy from all the sync pairs!
The Masked Royal	It's true, we may have lost... However—! There are other heroes on Pasio who will carry on our legacy!
Crasher Wake	If you think you'll get away with this, you've got another thing coming!
Bellelba	Hah! Spoken like a sore loser!
Brycen-Man	Mwahahaha! Interesting! I'll crush those so-called heroes with my dark, secret arts!

Brycen-Man	Bellelba! We don't need any dirty tricks to defeat these pipsqueaks! Don't even try it!
Barry	If you're just gonna stand around flapping your jaws, we'll go first!
(Barry sends out Heracross)
Brycen_Man	Mwahahaha! Fine by me! Come at us! My evil Pokémon will bring you to your knees!
(Brycen-Man sends out Zoroark)
Bellelba	sigh Very well. Do as you like. In the end, you'll all become my loyal servants anyway!
(Bellelba sends out Swoobat)
Selene	Not if we stop you! Come on, Scizor!
(Selene sends out Scizor)
Bellelba	My, my. What a lively little child you are. I believe I'll extract YOUR life energy first!
(Swoobat attacks Scizor, and Scizor attacks back)
Barry	Hyah! This one's for my master!
(Heracross attacks Zoroark, and Zoroark attacks back)
Brycen-Man	Mwahaha! Your talents are wasted being a hero of justice! Why don't you quit being a hero and join me as my underling?
(Grusha watches Brycen contemplatively)
Barry	Heck no! The bond I share with Heracross makes me stronger than ever!
(Barry's Heracross Mega Evolves)
Selene	Scizor and I are gonna crush your evil ambitions!
(Selene's Scizor Mega Evolves)
Bellelba	Hmph. Show-offs, the both of you. Don't think you're the only ones who have a bond with their partner Pokémon!
Brycen-Man	Take this—the bonds of EVIL!
(Zoroark and Swoobat attack together)
Barry	We're not gonna lose to you!
Selene	With our finishing moves, victory will be ours!
(Heracross and Scizor attack together, defeating Zoroark and Swoobat)
Bellelba	Arrrgh! I'll remember this!
Brycen-Man	The Masked Man will always return, no matter how many times he's defeated!
(Brycen-Man and Bellelba walk away)
Barry	Heheh! And no matter how many times you come back, we'll always be here to take you on!
Selene	That's what being a hero's all about!
(The crowd cheers)
Camper	What an amazing battle! Heroes are always cool, but I think I might be a fan of those villains now, too!
Lass	Yeah! Brycen-Man and Bellelba were so cool!
(Transition to Penny, Nate, Rosa, Barry, and Selene talking on the side of the arena; Barry and Selene have changed out of their costumes)
Barry	Man! Those villains were super intimidating!
Selene	Yeah. Playing a villain might be way harder than playing a hero!
Penny	Villains are very important—they present challenges to heroes to help them grow. When villains are done right, they make the heroes shine even brighter.
Rosa	Yeah, absolutely!
Nate	Let's get the heroes and villains working together to pump up everyone on Pasio!
(Transition to the Masked Royal, Crasher Wake, Diantha, Brycen, and Sabrina talking on the other side of the arena)
Diantha	And as for you two! That was a huge production, and you both put on brilliant performances!
Sabrina	It's all thanks to everyone here.
Brycen	Really, I should be thanking you, Sabrina. Your decision shined a bright light on Brycen-Man's future——not just yours.
Sabrina	Thank you, Brycen.
Crasher Wake	We appreciate you helping us out—especially on such short notice! It was a great opportunity to let the rookie heroes grow!
