Guzma's Battle Prep (Japanese: 決戦に向けて　グズマ編 Facing the Decisive Battle: Guzma Arc) was a costume event in Pokémon Masters EX, and a sub-story of the costume event Poké War Games. It was focused on the sync pair Guzma (Special Costume) & Buzzwole.

The "Guzma Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Guzma (Special Costume) & Buzzwole starting on November 11, 2021 and lasting until the end of the event.

During this event, players had to use a Story Key, which could be obtained by completing a story area in Poké War Games, to unlock the event's area info. Once unlocked, players could earn Event Vouchers Y from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers and Story Keys were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

Players could battle with Diantha (Special Costume) & Keldeo, Hilda (Special Costume) & Diancie, Guzma (Special Costume) & Buzzwole, or Jasmine (Special Costume) & Celesteela to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Falkner & Swellow to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and Koga & Crobat, Janine & Ariados, Erika & Vileplume, or Valerie & Sylveon to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.

During the reruns of Poké War Games, this event's story and battles were combined with the other sub-stories into Battle Prep.

Plot

A few days before the Battle of the Golden Spheres, Plumeria and Guzma battle in the city square. Guzma shows off the strength of his Buzzwole much to Plumeria's concern, who questions his knowledge on his partner Pokémon. Guzma proclaims his appreciation for his partner despite its origin and demonstrates their shared aggression. Plumeria quickly calls for a break just as Guzma gets fired up. Disappointed, Guzma reminds Plumeria that his intense training is for Buzzwole, and that he wants to prove their shared strength. Suddenly, Diantha and Hala call out to Guzma, requesting a training session. Guzma readily agrees, taking on Diantha's Keldeo first and then Hala's Crabominable.
