Wind move

Gust in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

A wind move (Japanese: 風技(かぜわざ) wind move) is any move that uses wind. Wind moves have some unique properties and effects. The mechanic was introduced in Generation IX.

Wind moves like Gust have existed since Generation I, but in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, wind became a mechanic; moves that use wind become flagged when used against Pokémon with specific Abilities.

Effects involving wind moves

Abilities

Name Effect
Wind Rider Boosts the Attack stat if the Pokémon is hit by a wind move or if Tailwind takes effect. Grants immunity to damage from wind moves.
Wind Power The Pokémon becomes charged when it is hit by a wind move or if Tailwind takes effect, boosting the power of the next Electric-type move it uses.
