A wind move (Japanese: 風技wind move) is any move that uses wind. Wind moves have some unique properties and effects. The mechanic was introduced in Generation IX.
In the core series games, wind moves have the following effects:
Pokémon with the Wind RiderAbility are immune to damage from other Pokémon's wind moves, receiving an increase in Attack by one stage instead. The increase is also received when Tailwind takes effect, in addition to the speed boost effect from Tailwind. Sandstorm does not interact with Wind Rider.
When a Pokémon with the Wind Power Ability is hit by a wind move or when Tailwind takes effect, it becomes charged, boosting the power of its next Electric-type move. Sandstorm does not interact with Wind Power.
