Ghasts are large, floating, ghost-like monsters found in the Nether, and are the only source of ghast tears. They shoot explosive fireballs at humans, which can be hit back to hurt them significantly upon direct impact.

Behavior

Ghasts attack humans with fireballs and are relatively weak. They can be summoned by the giant ghast, which calls multiple ghasts with a loud cry. Ghasts will also attack any mob that harms them. This behavior is shown when the giant ghast accidentally hits a regular ghast with a fireball, causing the entire horde to retaliate against it.

History

In the The Order of the Stone, ghasts appear when and the others were travelling through the Order of the Stone's Nether railtrack system. Jesse had killed some of them.

On their way to Redstonia or Boom Town during Assembly Required, Jesse, Reuben, and either Oliva or Axel were attacked by a ghast. Jesse has three choices to deal with it: shooting it with a bow, dragging it down with a fishing rod, or deflecting the fireballs with a sword.

After the Founder of Sky City was dropped during Order Up!, the Blaze Rods spawned monsters in the city, including ghasts.

In Jailhouse Block, ghasts inhabit the area around the Sunshine Institute. They are summoned by the giant ghast while in the fight against Jesse. After the giant shoot some stray fireballs that hit some of the ghasts, they retaliate against it, contributing to its downfall.

Trivia

  • Jesse and Reuben launch through the air in front of a ghast in a minecart in the episode: The Order of the Stone. This is a reference to a scene in the movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial when Elliott and E.T. launch through the air in front of the moon on a bike.
  • Some of the ghasts in Jailhouse Block are fake billboard sprites.
  • All its tentacles appear to have the same length unlike their base game counterparts.
