Meteor Beam (Japanese: メテオビーム Meteor Beam) is a damage-dealing Rock-type move introduced during Generation VIII, in The Isle of Armor. It is TM220 in Generation IX.

Effect

On the turn it is selected, Meteor Beam will raise the user's Special Attack by one stage, and the message "[User] is overflowing with space power!" will be shown. On the following turn, Meteor Beam will do damage (factoring in the Special Attack boost), PP will be deducted from it, and it will count as the last move used. Once Meteor Beam is selected, the user won't be able to switch out until it is disrupted or fully executed.

Sleep, freezing, binding, and flinching will pause but not disrupt the duration of Meteor Beam.

If a Power Herb is held by the user, Meteor Beam can be executed in one turn. The user will charge and boost their Special Attack, consume the Power Herb, then execute the final stage of the move in the same turn. The Special Attack boost is applied because the charging stage is still performed.

Generation VIII

The user gets ready to attack. Raises the user's Sp. Atk by one stat rank when it gets ready to attack. (The user's Sp. Atk will not rise if it has not gotten ready to attack.) Using this move again will cause the user to leave this posture, then attack. No other actions can be taken while ready to attack. Never misses. The more the target's Sp. Def is lowered, the greater the power of this attack. Lowers the target's Sp. Def by one stat rank when it is poisoned or badly poisoned. The preparation period is skipped when a circle applies to the allied field of play, and the user will attack right away.

Selene (Alt.) & Nihilego

Notes:

  • Selene (Alt.) & Nihilego's passive skill Alola to You! makes this move lower the Sp. Def of each target by two stat ranks instead of one when the target is poisoned or badly poisoned.
  • The power of this move scales for each Sp. Def drop on the target, increasing by 5% for each stat rank dropped, for a maximum power-up of 30%.
