Catcher

In baseball, a catcher was a player who crouched behind home plate to receive pitches from the pitcher and catch the balls that were not hit by the batter.

In 2024, after witnessing "Gabriel Bell" (actually Benjamin Sisko) tackle Vin, Biddle Coleridge remarked that he'd hate to be a catcher and see "Bell" coming towards home plate. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part II")
