Youssef (Japanese: ヒロノブ Hironobu) is a minor non-player character in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. He is a student at Naranja Academy^S/Uva Academy^V. He is close companions with Atticus, whom he respectfully refers to as Don Atticus (Japanese: シュウメイ殿 Shūmei-dono)

In the core series games

Youssef is first encountered outside the entrance of Navi Squad's Base, where he battles the player to try and stop them from raiding it. After Atticus is defeated by the player, Youssef helps him come to terms with his loss by reminding him of their friendship.

During the post-game, Youssef makes a brief appearance during Atticus's section of Penny's bond story. At the school store in Naranja Academy^S/Uva Academy^V, Atticus is infuriated to learn that another student had purchased a pair of ninja costumes he was intending to buy. He is calmed down by Youssef, who reveals that he was the one who bought the costumes. Afterward, the two leave to play make-believe ninja together.

Scarlet & Violet arc

Youssef debuted in the Scarlet & Violet arc. At Tagtree Thicket, he saw Clavell disguised as a student named Clive and assumed he was trying to raid the Navi Squad's Base. Youssef launched a sneak attack, but was easily fended off. Admitting defeat, Youssef explained he wasn't a Team Star member, but was close friends with Atticus, the Navi Squad boss. To his shock, Clavell revealed that he learned about an internal conflict within Team Star. Several Grunts planned to launch a coup, defeat the remaining bosses, and reform Team Star to suit their benefits. Clavell assured Youssef he meant Team Star no harm and asked that he cooperate with him.

Gulpin

Debut	Scarlet & Violet arc

Gulpin is Youssef's first known Pokémon. It was first used to attack Clavell at Tagtree Thicket, but was easily defeated by his Oranguru.

None of Gulpin's moves are known.

Shroodle

Shroodle is Youssef's second known Pokémon. It was first used to attack Clavell at Tagtree Thicket, but was easily defeated by his Oranguru.
