"Atticus is of middling strength among the Team Star bosses. A descendant of ninjas - or so he believes - he likes to dress the part and use fancy speech and poison skills to toy with foes."

Scarlet & Violet arc

Atticus debuted in the Scarlet & Violet arc. At the Navi Squad's Base, he was informed by a pair of Grunts that some of their allies started leaving. Assuming the Grunts fled out of fear of being raided by Violet, Atticus allowed them to leave before proclaiming he would defend the base by himself if necessary. Unbeknownst to the Navi Squad, the Violet that issued the raid challenge was actually Scarlet disguised as him. Scarlet and Nemona entered the Tagtree Thicket in order to arrive at the base, only to quickly find themselves disoriented by Atticus's ninja techniques before passing out. Atticus then told his Pokémon to carry Scarlet and Nemona to his room at the base.

Later, after his captives awakened, Atticus directed them towards the base's entrance so they could start the raid. Once he realized that Scarlet was actually a girl, Atticus mistakenly assumed she was a kunoichi and became reluctant to battle a fellow ninja fanatic. Scarlet pointed out that by refusing to battle, Atticus would be admitting defeat and giving up his position as squad boss. She then goaded Atticus into fighting by mocking his ninja hobby, angering him into starting the raid. Atticus laid another trap for Scarlet, leaving her dizzy and unable to properly choose the correct Pokémon to battle with.

Atticus slowly whittled down Scarlet's party, but the latter's constant switching out her available Pokémon allowed her Palafin to access its Hero Form. With its newly-gained strength, Palafin easily took out Atticus and his Starmobile, making Scarlet the victor. Atticus cured Scarlet of the poison afflicting her, then expressed relief about no longer needing to be a squad boss. Scarlet called out Atticus's hypocrisy by pointing out that his cruel actions in their battle made him no better than the bullies that led to Team Star being formed in the first place. She and Nemona then left the base while Atticus was left to ruminate over what he had done.
