Team Hoenn Unite! (Japanese: チーム・ホウエン結成！ Team Hoenn Formation!) was a solo event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on Hoenn sync pairs.

During this event, players could earn event vouchers from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. Obtaining 1,000 of these vouchers would earn the player a medal. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

The player could battle using May & Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; battling with other Hoenn sync pairs also awarded bonus vouchers, though the bonus amount for most sync pairs varied between runs.

This event featured the Full-Force Battle, where players were challenged to defeat a large group of strong opponents. Similar to the Legendary Arena, players could use multiple teams with a limited number of total sync pairs, with the opponents' health carrying over between rounds and with previously used pairs unable to be used again until the challenge is reset. Medals could be earned by completing specific missions.

In addition, for the duration of the event, five groups of different Hoenn sync pairs had a chance to appear in the Pokémon Center and have a conversation.

First run

The event first ran from January 14 to February 1, 2021. The "May Spotlight Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting May & Mudkip for the duration of the event.

In this run, the type of voucher that players could earn was Event Voucher D. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Challenge Pasio's Trainers: Part 4, which could only be challenged once per day.

The player could battle using May & Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Brendan & Treecko/Grovyle/Sceptile, Phoebe & Dusclops/Dusknoir, Glacia & Glalie, Zinnia & Rayquaza, Steven & Metagross, Wallace & Milotic, Wally & Gallade, Steven (Summer 2020) & Sandslash, or Lisia & Altaria to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and Norman & Slaking, Lucy & Seviper, Noland & Pinsir, Drake & Salamence, Flannery & Torkoal, Brawly & Makuhita, Winona & Pelipper, Tate & Solrock, Liza & Lunatone, or Roxanne & Nosepass/Probopass to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.

Second run

The event reran from August 3 to 17, 2022. In this run, the type of voucher that players could earn was Event Voucher P. Challenge Pasio's Trainers: Part 4 was renamed Daily Extreme Battle 1, and it could still only be challenged once per day.

The player could battle using May & Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert or Brendan & Treecko/Grovyle/Sceptile to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; and any other Hoenn sync pair to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.

Plot

At the Pokémon Center, May is excited to experience being a Trainer on Pasio, but does not know where to start. Kukui suggests taking part in a three-on-three battle, but May is cautious, as she has never participated in a team battle before. To try to make the experience easier for her, Kukui recommends that she battles Trainers from Hoenn, and Brendan offers to help.

Later on, May thanks everyone for the fun she had while battling other Trainers. Kukui is delighted that she enjoyed it, and is happy that Zinnia was able to join as well. Glacia suggests their next plan should be to go out to eat, but Kukui decides that first, everyone should take a photo to commemorate the day they just had. The Hoenn Trainers gather up and pose as Kukui takes the photo.

Kukui's presence in this event may be a reference to the legendary event The Dragon That Rules the Sky, another Hoenn-based event in which Kukui played a major role.
The story areas in this event all start with the word "May", a reference to the fact that this was May's debut event.
Looker's debut scout started simultaneously with the second run of this event, despite Looker not being eligible for any reward bonuses in it.
