Stamina (Masters)

Stamina Refill icon

Stamina (Japanese: スタミナ Stamina) is a recharging resource in Pokémon Masters EX that limits the amount of battles that can be performed in a day. The stamina system was introduced in version 1.12.0, which was released on July 29, 2020.

Player Rank

Stamina is associated with Player Rank (Japanese: プレイヤーランク Player Rank), or PR, and spending stamina will earn an equivalent amount of rank points toward PR. When enough rank points are earned, PR will increase, which refills the player's stamina by their current maximum. At certain PR levels, the player's maximum stamina is raised. At PR 1, the player's maximum stamina is 40. The maximum possible PR is 999, which offers a maximum stamina of 400.

Restoring stamina

Stamina recharges at a rate of 1 stamina every 4 minutes, up to the player's current maximum stamina. Prior to version 2.4.0 (December 21, 2020), stamina recharged at a rate of 1 stamina every 6 minutes. The player can refill their stamina beyond the maximum set by their PR, up to 999 stamina at a time. However, their stamina will not continue recharging until the currently-held amount drops back below the player's current maximum stamina.

Stamina can be restored manually with Stamina Refill items, which can be obtained from various sources:

Attempting to claim a Stamina Refill from a mission reward in this circumstance will cause the item to be sent to the Temp Storage in the player's Present Box. Once a Stamina Refill is sent to the Present Box, it will remain there for 24 hours before it disappears.

The player can also replenish their stamina using Gems, at a rate of 40 Gems for 100 stamina. Non-paid Gems will be used up first before paid Gems. This action can be performed a maximum of ten times a day. If the player attempts to use Gems to replenish their stamina beyond the maximum of 999, the transaction will fail and no Gems will be consumed.

Stamina usage

In the event menu, battles that require stamina will indicate the amount required at the bottom right corner. Prior to starting a battle that requires stamina, the player can use Skip Tickets to jump to the Results screen of the battle and instantly consume the amount of stamina required. Skip Tickets cannot be used to skip a battle if the player has insufficient stamina.

From the time stamina was introduced up to the second run of The Dragon That Rules the Sky, all battles that required stamina had a cost of 20 stamina. Currently, the event types that require stamina to participate in battles are as follows: story events, solo events, special sync pair events, villain events, Trainer Files, Eevee Day Celebration!, Arceus Arc Celebration, the Academy Founding Chapter, and academy events. The stamina cost for each battle difficulty is the same across all of these events with the exception of special sync pair events and academy events.

  • Normal: 10 stamina
  • Hard: 15 stamina
  • Very Hard: 15 stamina (this battle difficulty does not exist in villain events and special sync pair events)
  • Super Hard: 20 stamina (15 for special sync pair events)
  • Ultra Hard: 30 stamina (20 for special sync pair events)

In academy events, all battles except exams require 20 stamina, regardless of difficulty. Exams require 40 stamina, regardless of difficulty.

The Training Area features battles that require stamina. With the exception of the Level-Up Area, stamina cost is not fixed based on difficulty but by area.

  • 20 stamina: Cap-Unlock Area Lv. 100, 110, and 120; Cap-Unlock Area 2 Lv. 120
  • 30 stamina: Cap-Unlock Area Lv. 125, 130, and 135; Cap-Unlock Area 2 Lv. 130; Lucky Skill Area; Skill Feather Area

Since July 29, 2020, using 20, 50, and 100 stamina have been available as daily missions. Four Skip Tickets have always been a reward for reaching each stamina threshold; from January 31, 2022 to August 28, 2023, ten Music Coins were also given out for completing each mission. Using stamina has also shown up as mission tiles on several limited-time Mission Bingo.

Some titles are unlocked only after the player uses stamina under certain circumstances. The titles "Full-Fledged Sync Pair" and "Experienced Sync Pair" require the player to raise their Player Rank to 50 and 100, respectively, which involve spending stamina. Additionally, each playable Trainer in the game has two titles associated with them that are unlocked after spending stamina while they are on the player's team: "[Trainer's name] Fan" after using 10,000 stamina and "[Trainer's name] Super Fan" after using 50,000 stamina.
