Set 2 (Frienda)

The second Pokémon Frienda set was released on September 12, 2024 and consisted of 73 Frienda Picks.

Information

Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza, Lugia, and Ho-Oh were the focal Pokémon for this set, all of which were featured on Grade 5 Super Treasure Frienda Picks. Other Super Treasure Pokémon included Melmetal and Tinkaton, Ogerpon in its Teal Mask and Cornerstone Mask, both of which could Terastallize, as well as Kalos first partner Evolutions Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja, which could use Z-Moves. Grade 4 Treasure Pokémon with powered-up abilities included Corviknight, Pawmot, and Garganacl, which could Terastallize, plus Aggron and Bewear, both of which had access to Z-Moves. Treasures of ruin Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, and Chi-Yu also made their Pokémon Frienda debut as Grade 4 Pokémon.

Players with Trainer Picks could engage in Frienders Missions (Japanese: フレンダーズミッション) beginning with this set, which would unlock rewards if they completed them. Frienders Missions were challenged in sequential order, with six in total:

  • Mission 1: When your Pokémon uses a move, press the console buttons repeatedly to turn the gauge rainbow.
Reward: Pikachu Support Pokémon Ticket (available to select in Frienda Circle)
  • Mission 2: Set three Frienda Picks at the start of a battle.
Reward: 30 stars
  • Mission 3: Attack with a supereffective move.
Reward: Hat Dress-up Item
  • Mission 4: Capture a Treasure Pokémon that has entered Catch Chance!
Reward: 30 stars
  • Mission 5: Select the highest value space on an Attack Roulette.
Reward: Lucario Support Pokémon Ticket (available to select in Frienda Circle)
Reward: Captain's Outfit Dress-up Item set

Between October 10 and November 20, 2024, a Halloween Party (Japanese: ハロウィンパーティー) event ran on all updated machines, which added a Halloween theme to the main hub and Exploration Road. Stat-boosting Pokémon found in grass patches on Exploration Road were also changed to ones featuring Ghost typing. If players came across any pumpkins while moving along it, they could interact with the touchscreen to create sweets. Creating sweets had a chance to attract Super Treasure Pokémon that could only be encountered during the event period: Gengar, Mimikyu, and Ceruledge. Encountering any of these Pokémon would begin a Climax Battle and any Pokémon caught would be dispensed as a Wonder Pick (Japanese: ワンダーピック). Wonder Picks are similar in appearance to Super Treasure Frienda Picks except translucent black in color. They also have a "W" icon in place of a number on their obverse and have a "W" in their collection number.

Players with Trainer Picks would retain any sweets created and could earn extra rewards by collecting more: one sweet would unlock a Halloween Hat Dress-up Item; all six sweets would unlock a Halloween Set Dress-up Item. After collecting all six sweets, the player's avatar would temporarily change into the full Halloween costume in the main hub and pose next to the Captain for a photo opportunity. Players using Frienda Circle could track their progress and update their avatar's appearance with any acquired items.[1]

Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly—the three Partner Pokémon from the first set—remained options for this one. If players had fully evolved at least one Partner Pokémon, a new option—Pawmi—became available to select. A digital Garganacl Support Pokémon Ticket was available to Frienda Circle members that logged in while this set was in operation; other physical tickets were included in Shogakukan publications and given away at events.
