Blurb
Tyler's uncle Dan brings his beloved Sealeo to the Pokémon Resort, eager to let her stretch her flippers. But when it's time to leave, Dan can't be found.
Plot
A Sealeo happily plays with Haru and the other Pokémon at the Pokémon Resort's seaside, although her rowdiness causes Haru to fall into the water. Later inside the Resort building, Alisa and Watanabe are discussing about how the ship on the Resort is not departing because one of its crew quit, and that the Resort is also currently understaffed. Haru walks in to search for Sealeo, only to notice Tyler on the pool area chasing after her. Haru, Alisa, and Tyler's elemental monkey trio all join in on the Sealeo chase to rein her in, but they are all unsuccessful. The Sealeo is eventually stopped by her Trainer, Tyler's uncle Dan, who is visiting the Resort as a guest.
Over some Pamtre Berry drinks, Haru, Tyler, and Dan watch Sealeo play with the other Pokémon while Tyler introduces Dan to Haru. Tyler reveals that Dan, who used to be a fisherman, raised him as a kid and would take him on boat rides. According to Tyler, Dan also used to be tougher, and would angrily yell at young Tyler if he caused trouble. Afterwards, Dan decides to talk about his Sealeo: 15 years ago, she was once a Spheal who one day hopped inside Dan's boat while he was out fishing. Dan tried many times to return the Spheal to the sea, but she would return to his boat each time, so he decided to adopt her and become her Trainer. Dan talks about the challenges in raising his Sealeo — especially since it is much larger than Spheal — and worries that she might cause trouble on the Resort since she doesn't get enough space to play or swim in the city. Haru tells Dan not to worry about his Sealeo causing trouble, and the Pokémon Resort staff have Dan's Sealeo do various fun activities, such as swimming in the river, feeding it frozen treats, and playing on the beach. Haru and Dan watch as Sealeo play near the sea, and Dan tearfully reminisces his memories with his Sealeo.
The next morning, all the staff at the Pokémon Resort are shocked by the revelation that Dan is suddenly missing and his belongings have already been cleared from his room, leaving his Sealeo behind. Everyone looks for Dan, and Haru manages to find him on a ship departing from the island, turning away from Haru and Sealeo. However, the ship Dan is on is stopped and forced to head back to port after Sealeo dives into the sea and makes a scene to get Dan's attention. Dan gets off the ship and apologizes to a confused Haru, a disappointed Tyler, and an angry Watanabe, who scolds Dan for trying to abandon Sealeo. Tyler walks away as Watanabe tells Dan how much he looked up to him.
Guilt-ridden, Dan approaches Tyler and apologizes again, explaining that he became anxious over raising his Sealeo ever since she evolved from Spheal, and worries that he won't be able to raise her anymore as she keeps getting bigger. He argues that although he really does not want to abandon Sealeo, he thinks leaving Sealeo behind on the island is the best option for her since she will have all the space to play around in. Tyler eventually comes around and pleads Watanabe to allow Sealeo to stay on the island. Tyler volunteers to raise Sealeo, but Watanabe tells Tyler that it may interfere with his work. Alisa and Haru both also offer to help, but Haru points out that she does not think having Sealeo stay while Dan leaves the island is the best option. Watanabe finally decides that Sealeo may stay at the Pokémon Resort, but only on the condition that Dan also stays — as the Resort's newly hired concierge. Everyone thanks Watanabe for the decision and heads to the beach to play with Sealeo again, while Dan looks on happily.
