Hidden Grotto (Japanese: 隠し穴Hidden Hollow) is a feature in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 that allows the player to find Pokémon with Hidden Abilities or items. The contents of the Hidden Grottoes are random, and if they are empty, for each 256 steps, they generally have a 5% chance to regenerate, usually with different content than what was inside on the previous visit; however, the chance can be increased (to 15%, 25%, 35%, or 55%) with the various levels of Grotto Pass Power. Hidden Grottoes will not regenerate unless the items are obtained or the Pokémon are caught or defeated by the player.
Locations
Twenty Hidden Grottoes are located all around Unova. Some areas have two Hidden Grottoes, while others have only one.
Each Hidden Grotto has the same items available, with the exception of the Evolution stones. The chance that an item will be spawned when a Grotto is regenerated is normally 80% (40% for hidden items and 40% for visible items), but this decreases to 51.2% if any level of Grotto Pass Power is in effect.
Items in each Hidden Grotto
Every Grotto has a chance to spawn the following items at the following rates:
The chance that a Pokémon will be spawned when a Grotto is regenerated is normally 20%, but this increases to 48.8% if any level of Grotto Pass Power is in effect, because the game will reroll up to two additional times in search of a Pokémon as opposed to an item.
Pokémon that appear in Hidden Grottoes have non-standard gender distribution rates, and the gender of the Pokémon is predetermined and cannot be soft resetted for. Those species that are gender unknown, all-male, or all-female are unaffected. Most of the rest will be female 30% of the time, but Clefairy, Corsola, Minccino, and Pachirisu will be female 60% of the time, Dragonite, Poliwhirl, and Vulpix will be female 10% of the time, Combee will be female 5% of the time, and in White 2 Nosepass will never be female.

Funfest Missions
Three special Funfest Missions (one exclusive to each version, plus one that was event-exclusive) ask players to search for Pokémon in Hidden Grottoes, and also temporarily replace the contents of some of those Hidden Grottoes with Pokémon that do not normally appear there. These specially spawned Pokémon have a 20% chance to be female.

If the player has a Repel active and it wears off on the final tile before the exit, they will be prevented from leaving until they move up and back down.
