MinecraftCon 2010 (also referred to as Minecon 2010) was the first unofficial MINECON event, organized as a spontaneous gathering of Minecraft fans on August 31, 2010, at Downtown Park in Bellevue, Washington, USA.[1]

The event was conceived by Notch after he expressed interest in a meet-up in a blog post[2] and called on the community to organize it without specifying a venue.[3] Notch was already in the area visiting the offices of Valve Software.[4] Although Notch referred to it as "MinecraftCon 2010," the event was more of an informal gathering than a traditional gaming or anime convention.
A thread on the Minecraft Forum[5] served as an unofficial hub for organizing the event, with attendees sharing YouTube videos and photos afterward.[6]
Over 50 people attended the gathering, including one fan in a full-body creeper costume,[7] which caught Notch's attention.[8] Notch discussed his future plans for Minecraft[9][10] and addressed the recent popularity of Herobrine.[11] Several attendees livestreamed the event or uploaded recorded footage to YouTube.
