Debut Charmander's Peanut

Peanut (Japanese: ピース Peas; full name グリン=ピース Green Peas) is a character in the manga series Magical Pokémon Journey.

History

Peanut holding flowers

Peanut first appeared in Charmander's Peanut, in which he and Charmander searched for the Tree of Strength in order to become stronger. Along the way, the two befriended Hazel's Pokémon, and Charmander revealed to them that he had first met Peanut when he had found him unconscious in the middle of a Beedrill's nest. He had saved Peanut by blowing fire on all of the attacking Beedrill, and the two became friends from then onward. As the group continued to travel to the tree, it began to rain, terrifying Charmander. Despite Peanut's sickliness, he shielded Charmander to protect the flame on his tail. Ultimately, they are unable to find the Tree of Strength due to Peanut's misreading of a map.

In The Best Gift Ever, Peanut quickly became friends with Hazel and was invited to her annual Christmas party. He also befriended Almond and Coconut, playing hide-and-seek with them and their Pokémon in The Unbearable Suspense of Hide-and-Seek!. After Peanut had found Pikachu and Clefairy while playing the game, the three fell into a cave together. When they believed they were going to die at the hands of the rumored cave monster, Peanut urged the Pokémon to save themselves and leave him behind. He and the others were eventually rescued by Onix, who Peanut was able to meet for the first time.

In The Great Togepi Disaster, Peanut joined Almond on one of his fishing trips and was able to catch more fish than him, annoying him greatly. When Togepi caused trouble by using Metronome, Peanut stayed calm and gentle with it, as Almond lost his patience. After Togepi teleported an angry Gyarados into the river, Peanut attempted to reason with it before it launched an attack at him.

In The Hill of the Lone Star Tree, Peanut befriended Carob and left Charmander with him to help him find his way to the tree. Peanut was touched by the story of Gramps and Mandy, allowing Gramps to spend time with Charmander.

Peanut met Plum in The Exorcist Nurse!!, where she and Chansey discovered that Peanut's sickliness is caused by a concentration of dark aura.

Character

Peanut is a sickly boy who moved from a big city to Hazel's town for his health. He spends most days in bed and must take frequent breaks whenever he leaves the house, to Charmander's frustration. He is also quite frail, as he is often left out of breath by even the smallest amounts of exertion.

Despite his physical difficulties, Peanut is consistently positive and content with his life. Even after enduring frightening situations, as in The Unbearable Suspense of Hide-and-Seek!, he is able to laugh it off, albeit nervously. Peanut is also very kind, choosing to risk his own health to protect Charmander from the rain in Charmander's Peanut.

Charmander is Peanut's only known Pokémon. While he comes off as rather brash and aggressive, he cares greatly for his Trainer. Charmander is frequently annoyed with Peanut's frailness, yet takes a certain pride in defending him. While Charmander sees himself as Peanut's guardian, he more often relies on him for protection.
