The Great Togepi Disaster (Japanese: トゲピー大パニック!, Big Togepy Panic!) is the 34th chapter of the Magical Pokémon Journey manga.

Plot

Pikachu, Clefairy, and Togepi go to Peanut's home to invite Charmander to play, arriving right as the two are stepping out of the house. Peanut tells the Pokémon that he and Charmander are going fishing with Almond, and invites them to join. He then waves over Almond, who is annoyed to see that the Pokémon will be coming with them, as he wanted a quiet fishing trip.

The group arrives at the pond, where Pikachu, Clefairy, and Togepi splash around. Almond scolds them for being loud, but then realizes Togepi doesn't know how to get out of the pond by itself. He gently removes it from the water and tells it that, as a Pokémon, it will have to learn an attack eventually. Togepi takes this literally and uses Metronome, causing ice to suddenly encase Almond, Peanut, Pikachu, and Clefairy.

Togepi uses Metronome again, and large boulders fall onto the ice, chipping away at it from above. Worried about everyone inside, Charmander thaws them out with a Fire-type move. After realizing that these attacks have come from Togepi simply playing, the boys decide to return to their fishing, with Almond telling Pikachu and Clefairy to babysit.

As the boys fish, Almond is annoyed at the success Peanut easily has with catching Goldeen. Almond asks aloud for a big fish to appear, and Togepi begins to wave its arms. Soon after, an angry Gyarados is teleported into the pond. Gyarados yells that they had interrupted her in the middle of confessing her love, and begins raging at the group. Peanut tries to reason with Gyarados, but is hit with a Water-type attack and knocked unconscious. Realizing Togepi is their only hope, Almond asks it to save them from Gyarados. Togepi uses Metronome, resulting in a massive explosion. The attack succeeds in subduing Gyarados, but everyone is left scorched.

Some time later, after being able to recover slightly, Almond tries to lead the others back. Weighed down with Peanut leaning on him for support, he asks Togepi to use its powers to send them back to their homes. Togepi uses Metronome, but the move teleports the others to the top of a mountain, angering Almond. Meanwhile, Togepi returns to Hazel, making her ask where Pikachu and Clefairy have gone.
