This is a list of glitches in Pokémon HOME.

List of glitches

General glitches

• In older versions of HOME, Shiny 3D models of Minior had a slight tint that indicated their form. This was reverted in newer versions of HOME, with all forms appearing identical, with no apparent tint.

• In earlier versions of HOME, the image of Scatterbug that evolved into Icy Snow Pattern Vivillon appeared to be looking in a different direction than all other forms. As of v3.1.0, all Scatterbug forms appear to be looking in the same direction.

• In the mobile version, although Koraidon and Miraidon are counted as "special Pokémon" for the purpose of the GTS's filters, they were initially included in the list of the most popular Pokémon requests that excludes special Pokémon. This was later corrected, with Koraidon and Miraidon now being consistently considered special Pokémon. The same issue later arose with Terapagos.

• In the Nintendo Switch versions before v2.0.0, all Arceus forms were considered Normal-type instead of their actual types except for the Dragon-type and Fairy-type forms.

• In v2.0.0 in the mobile version only, the user's boxes from the Nintendo Switch version would not be displayed on the label selection screen when selecting Pokémon for a trade. This was fixed in v2.0.1.

• In v2.0.0 between May 18, 2022 06:00 UTC and May 27, 2022 01:00 UTC, some players would receive error code 10015 randomly after depositing Pokémon and attempting to save changes, preventing Pokémon from being deposited. This was fixed in v2.0.1, and affected players who were on the Premium Plan at the time received 10 free days (including those whose subscriptions ended between receiving the error and the release of v2.0.1) as an apology from The Pokémon Company.^[1]

• In the GTS in the mobile version, since the ability to request and search for Pokémon with specific forms and languages of origin was added, selecting to exclude requests for Pokémon the user does not have does not exclude requests for forms or languages that the user does not have as long as they have at least one of the Pokémon in any form or language.
• Sometimes a Pokémon's color will change to all white, but this is resolved if HOME is reloaded or the Pokémon is traded.
• As of an unknown update, notification from the mobile version when a trade is completed in the GTS or the Wonder Box would not be sent to the user's device even if it is turned on. This was fixed in v.3.4.2.

Beta Magearna

During the first few hours of Pokémon HOME's release on February 12, 2020, completing the National Pokédex in HOME would incorrectly reward a "beta test" version of Magearna, instead of the intended Original Color Magearna gift.^[2] Note that this was discovered accidentally, as there was no indication or announcement that any reward would be granted to players that completed HOME's National Pokédex at the time. This Magearna has 0 IVs in all stats.

Compatible Games

This Magearna had 15 separate Ribbons assigned to it, specifically the Battle Champion, Birthday, Classic, Country, Earth, Event, National, National Champion, Premier, Regional Champion, Souvenir, Special, Wishing, World, and World Champion Ribbons, several of which have never been made obtainable through any other means. Within a few hours of HOME's launch, this gift became unobtainable and was replaced with the intended Original Color Magearna gift. After a few days, players who claimed the beta Magearna gift had the Wonder Card removed from their Mystery Gifts and were able to claim the Original Color Magearna normally.

Multiple Magearna glitch

After the beta Magearna had been fixed, a glitch occurred that meant the Original Color Magearna could be claimed multiple times, essentially duplicating the Pokémon, which was resolved after about a week.^[3]

Spinda spot pattern glitches

Display glitches

In Pokémon HOME v3.0.0, a display glitch appeared in the mobile app version of HOME. In previous versions, the summary of a Spinda in the mobile app would display its own spot pattern correctly; however, in v3.0.0, all Spinda were displayed as having the same pattern as the static rendered image used in HOME's menus, corresponding to the encryption constant 7A397866,^[4] regardless of the Spinda's actual encryption constant value.^[5] This was only a visual error, as the actual encryption constant value of Spinda in HOME remained unchanged. This error was fixed in v3.0.1.^[6]

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Pokédex-related glitches

• In the mobile version only, Black Kyurem's Pokédex entries for Pokémon Sword and Shield were the same as those of regular Kyurem, even though Black Kyurem has its own entries in the Switch version. This was fixed in v2.0.2.

• In v2.0.0 in the mobile version, after using the GTS or Wonder Box, the entries in the regional Pokédexes would be reset and would only have entries registered for Pokémon currently in HOME, lacking any entries registered for Pokémon that were not in HOME at the time the bug occurred. This was fixed in v2.0.1.

• In the Galar Pokédex in the mobile version, Hippopotas is incorrectly displayed as its Shiny form instead of its non-Shiny appearance.

• If a Sandy Cloak or Trash Cloak Burmy in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl or Pokémon Legends: Arceus evolves into Mothim and is then deposited into HOME, it will not count towards the Sinnoh or Hisui regional Pokédexes (but will still count towards the National Pokédex).^[7]

• In the mobile version's National Pokédex, the total number of Pokémon shown at the top of the page always includes all forms, even if the user has not selected to show all forms.

• In v2.0.0 in the mobile version only, when using the "All Forms" filter in the Pokédex, Average Size Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist did not appear with their three other forms and were not counted in the total number of forms displayed at the top of the page. Additionally, the Super Size forms replaced the Average Size forms as the default forms shown in the National Pokédex, though viewing either Pokémon's Pokédex entry still displayed all four sizes. This was fixed in v2.0.1.

Transfer-related glitches

• Between May 30, 2023 06:00 UTC and July 4, 2023 00:00 UTC, the alpha Pokémon caught as part of Missions 14 through 16 in Pokémon Legends: Arceus would fail to have their scale value set to the maximum when transferred to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, making them ineligible for the Jumbo Mark. Affected Pokémon could have their scale set to the correct value by depositing and withdrawing from HOME.

• Due to a bug with how HOME handles punctuation, Farfetch'd and Sirfetch'd without nicknames transferred from Pokémon Bank or Pokémon GO will act as though they have nicknames, and cannot be re-nicknamed after being moved into a game. This is due to HOME assigning the incorrect apostrophe, the species name being "Farfetch’d" or "Sirfetch’d" and the nickname being assigned as "Farfetch'd" or "Sirfetch'd" instead.

• Starting in v2.0.0 in the Switch version only, Pokémon that were transferred from Pokémon Bank, Pokémon GO, or Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! but had not been moved to a compatible game in Generation VIII (or were not compatible with any games in that generation) would not have their base stats, effort values, individual values, or moves shown, even if the player chose not to connect any game with HOME. This was fixed in v3.0.0.

• In the Nintendo Switch version, when browsing the Boxes while not connected to a game, Pokémon transferred from Pokémon GO to Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! and deposited in HOME display the Strange Ball unless they were transferred into and out of another Switch game.

• For approximately the first eight hours of release (February 12, 2020 between 01:00 UTC and 09:00 UTC), any Hyper Training performed in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, or Ultra Moon was lost upon transferring from Pokémon Bank. Details on how to restore it were announced in the app and on the official support websites.^[8][9]

• Pokémon HOME went down for maintenance on February 25, 2020 between 01:30 and 11:30 UTC, during which any affected Pokémon stored in HOME at the time regained their Hyper Training.

• Initially, HOME would automatically delete any Pokémon with duplicate tracker values on the assumption that they were hacked clones; however, this behavior would cause one of a Ninjask and Shedinja pair to be deleted as the HOME tracker value was among the data copied to Shedinja.
  • This was partially fixed sometime between February 25, 2020 and February 28, 2020 when HOME would instead disallow a Pokémon with a duplicate tracker value from being deposited.^[10][11] It was fully fixed sometime around April 23, 2020, and depositing a Ninjask and Shedinja with duplicate tracker values will now cause HOME to reassign the Shedinja a new tracker value.^[12] The Shedinja will have its tracker reassigned the first time it is deposited into HOME, regardless of what its game of origin is, whether it previously had a HOME tracker value from visiting HOME as a Nincada, or whether it is deposited into HOME at the same time as the matching Ninjask.^[13]
  • During a time where HOME has unstable servers, Pokémon transferred from Pokémon GO can sometimes duplicate themselves but have a new unique HOME tracker.^{[citation needed]}

Bank and HOME out-of-bounds values exploit

Prior to Pokémon HOME version v2.0.0 (v1.1.0 on mobile), Pokemon glitched/edited to have out-of-bounds index numbers for species ID, game of origin, met location, etc. were allowed to be deposited into Pokémon Bank and transferred into HOME.

This glitch permitted an exploit where-in Generation VIII species could be created in Generation VI and VII games, causing the previously out-of-bounds values to align with valid Generation VIII values when transferred into HOME, transforming the glitch Pokemon into seemingly legal Pokémon. This exploit was used to obtain Generation VIII species via glitches and cheating, as well as several illegal Pokémon that would otherwise be unobtainable.

Illegal abilities on GO-origin Galarian Slowking and Urshifu

In June 2022, Galarian Slowking experienced an issue where HOME had incorrectly mapped the ability ID values for Curious Medicine to Unseen Fist, and vice versa, resulting in a 50% chance for Galarian Slowking to receive the illegal ability on transfer from Pokémon GO.^[14] While Urshifu was unreleased in GO at the time, it would have also been affected had it been available to transfer. Galarian Slowking with Unseen Fist was unusable online due to the illegal ability, and the issue was eventually resolved on December 14, 2022. Any affected Galarian Slowking that enter HOME after December 14, 2022 will have their ability corrected to Curious Medicine.

Illegal moves on GO-origin regional forms

Alolan and Galarian form species transferred from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME between November 11 to November 16, 2020, were erroneously granted moves from the level-up learnset of their Kantonian form counterparts.

Affected Pokémon stored in Pokémon HOME, or Pokémon Sword and Shield with illegal moves had their moves replaced with moves from their level-up movepool on November 16, 2020. Opening Pokémon HOME at any point between November 16, 2020, and the release of HOME v3.0.0 (as patch v3.0.0 actually removed the hardcoded check to correct these illegal movesets), would cause HOME to search the contents of all Sword and Shield savefiles present on the console, and correct the illegal movesets.

Post-v3.0.0, if any affected Pokemon still exist, while the Pokemon are unusable online due to the illegal moves triggering server anti-cheat, HOME no longer automatically corrects their illegal movesets.

While the original issue was resolved, a similar issue occurred later with the debut of Hisuian Voltorb.^[15] It was eventually resolved as well, but unlike the original issue, no announcement was made to accompany the second server-side patch. The exact date it was resolved is currently unknown, but it appears to have occurred sometime between May 24, 2022 (when the bug first appeared), and July 27, 2022.

Inconsistent Abilities when transferred between games glitch

Prior to v3.1.0, it was possible for Pokemon transferred between games to not retain the correct ability after transfer.

The most common occurance of this glitch was triggered by using an ability-changing item, (such as an Ability Capsule or Ability Patch), in one game, and then transferring it via HOME to another game, resulting in the affected Pokemon retaining the altered ability in the game where the item was used, and its original ability in all others.

This was corrected with patch v3.1.0, on September 13, 2023.^[16]

Incorrect PP values glitch

Prior to v3.0.0 of Pokémon HOME, Pokémon transferred between games, most notably transfers to and from Pokémon Legends: Arceus, would have incorrect PP values assigned for their moves.

Outsider Pokémon CP values glitch

Prior to v3.0.0 of Pokémon HOME, Pokémon transferred to or from Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! or viewed by connecting to the game in HOME would have incorrect CP values set by HOME. Let's Go adjusts CP based on trainer friendship, and tracks friendship and CP values for both the Original Trainer (OT) and most recent "non-OT handler" (HT).^[17]

Connecting to a Let's Go game in HOME prior to v3.0.0 would recalculate the stored CP values for the incorrect Trainer. This glitch affected all outsider Pokémon, but would be corrected if the Pokémon was used in battle within Let's Go, and was permanently resolved with the release of the v3.0.0 update in Pokémon HOME.

Out-of-bounds EXP glitch

On June 15, 2023, from 09:00 to 15:10 UTC, Pokémon transferred from Pokémon GO had their total experience values set to 0xFFFFFFFF, (equal to the 32-bit unsigned integer limit, resulting in 4,294,967,295 total experience), a value far higher than required for any species to reach level 100. This resulted in HOME displaying many affected Pokémon as level 1, (or other incorrect level values, likely varying by experience group), as the apps weren't designed to handle EXP values that large.^[18] Affected Pokémon transferred out of HOME would display them at level 100 in-game, but could potentially crash the game while viewing the summary.

On June 21, 2023, the news section of the HOME mobile app announced that the issue was resolved, and all affected Pokémon would be reverted to level 100.

Move mastery glitch

Since the v2.0.0 update in HOME, if a Pokémon has all of its moves removed (whether this is by using a glitch like the Pomeg Berry glitch or via hacking) and is then transferred from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon HOME, the Pokémon is given the move mastery icon next to the missing moves, even if the Pokémon is not featured in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Abusing this also allows a Pokémon to copy the move set of a Pokémon next received in HOME, which allows for Pokémon from Bank to have illegal moves from Generation VIII and Generation IX. If the Pokémon is transferred to Pokémon Sword and Shield, the move set (if not copied) is replaced by the move Struggle with 0/35 PP. Certain Pokémon, including Palkia and Arceus, do not have Struggle but instead put themselves to sleep.
