The ex Starter Sets (Japanese: スターターセットex Starter Set ex) are a collection of three Standard Decks for the Pokémon Trading Card Game released in Japan on January 20, 2023, in Taiwan and Hong Kong on February 3, 2023, in Thailand on February 24, 2023, in South Korea on February 28, 2023, and in Indonesia on March 3, 2023. Together with Scarlet ex and Violet ex, they are the first card releases of the Scarlet & Violet Era.

Information

Following the worldwide release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, three 60-card pre-constructed starter sets were released focusing on the Paldean first partner Pokémon.

These sets include:

ex Starter Set Sprigatito & Lucario ex (Japanese: スターターセットex ニャオハ＆ルカリオex)

ex Starter Set Fuecoco & Ampharos ex (Japanese: スターターセットex ホゲータ＆デンリュウex)

ex Starter Set Quaxly & Mimikyu ex (Japanese: スターターセットex クワッス＆ミミッキュex)

Each starter set premiers one Pokémon ex for each of the secondary types featured in the deck. The decks include a number of basic Trainer cards to start out the new Generation of the Trading Card Game, plus basic Energy cards. Each set comes packaged with a sheet containing 44 damage counters and 2 status markers, a player's guide, a coin, and a two-player playmat. In Indonesia and Thailand, the ex Starter Sets were released as Starter Deck ex which differ from the ex Starter Set releases in that they do not include a promotional card pack, coin and playmat.
