Reinforced deepslate is a block that generates exclusively in ancient cities. It has high hardness, is immune to explosions, and cannot be pushed by pistons or obtained in Survival mode.
Obtaining
Reinforced deepslate is not obtainable in Survival, even with Silk Touch, and is only available through the Creative inventory, pick block, or commands.
Breaking
Reinforced deepslate has no tool associated with it, meaning it is mined at the exact same speed regardless of the tool used.
Reinforced deepslate drops nothing when destroyed.
| Block | ||
|---|---|---|
| Hardness | 55 | |
| Breaking time (secs) | ||
| Default | 82.5 | |
- incorrect tool, drops nothing
- correct tool, drops nothing or something other than the block itself
- correct tool, drops the block itself
- italicized can be instant mined
Natural generation
56 blocks of reinforced deepslate are found in the central part of each ancient city, creating a frame-like structure.
Usage
Reinforced deepslate has no uses besides decoration.
Piston interactivity
Reinforced deepslate cannot be pushed by pistons or pulled by sticky pistons.

"This was unintended, as I've mentioned to some people there is an interesting design space to be explored about wither-proof moveable blocks that you can't obtain by mining, and only moving.
In saying that, I don't know if that's a space we're going to explore this update." – @kingbdogz on X (formerly Twitter), February 18, 2022
"It would be kinda funny if we literally added a new block called "Wither Cage" that cannot be obtained by mining 😏" – @kingbdogz on X (formerly Twitter), February 18, 2022 - ↑ "Could you maybe explain what's up with reinforced deepslate? Like why rank it an S?" – @GhirkinThe on X (formerly Twitter), February 24, 2022
