Held Items

Each Trainer's Pokémon can hold up to 3 held items. Held items bestow helpful passive effects and stat increases to their holder. These items can be upgraded through grades 1-30 by spending Item Enhancers. Their upgrade effects increment at grades 1, 10, and 20, while their flat stats increment every grade, or every other grade if they affect two stats. After increasing a held item to Grade 19, the cost per upgrade for that item will increase sharply instead of gradually. There are Super Item Enhancers which increase the level of a held item directly to 30, as well as 7-Day Max Grade Trial Cards that have the same effect for a duration of seven days. Held items are purchased from the Aeos Emporium.

Battle Items

Battle Items are items that a Pokémon's Trainer can activate for various effects.[1] A Pokemon can have one Battle Item equipped to it. Like moves, Battle Items have a cooldown period after being used where they cannot be activated. Most Battle Items are obtained through increasing the player's Trainer level, but all battle items released since the Shedinja Doll are instead purchased from the Aeos Emporium.

A number of these items are exclusive to specific event only battling modes. (Additionally, two modes, Catch 'Em Battle and Panic Parade allow for catching Pokémon and sending them back out in the same way one uses a battle item. These "items" are not listed here, see the battle pages for more information.)

Trivia

  • The Slick Spoon was likely inspired by the similarly named Twisted Spoon in the main games. The Slick Spoon allows attacks to ignore part of an opponent's Special Defense, and the Twisted Spoon increases the power of Psychic type moves, which are typically special.
