Lapras (Japanese: ラプラス Laplace) is a playable Pokémon in Pokémon UNITE. It became available as a playable character on April 13, 2023.

Passive Ability

	Shell Armor シェルアーマー Shell Armor
Description If the Pokémon takes damage from a single attack that exceeds a set percentage of its max HP, that damage will be reduced.

Basic Attack

	Damage category: Physical (as a basic attack)
	Damage category: Special (as a boosted attack)
Description Becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, launching a blast of water in front of the user. If this blast hits opposing Pokémon, it deals damage to them and restores the user's HP based on Lapras' max HP.

Area	Description
Has the user create a whirlpool centered on itself that lasts for a short time, dealing damage over time to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect. The time between hits is shorter the farther opposing Pokémon are from the whirlpool's center.

Area	Description
Has the user release a pulse of water centered on itself that spreads out, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and decreasing their movement speed. For each opposing Pokémon hit by a pulse from this move, an additional pulse will be released the next time this move is used, up to a total of 2 extra pulses. After the first pulse after activating this move hits an opposing Pokémon, the user's next basic attack becomes a boosted attack. Upgrade: Up to a total of 3 additional pulses can be released.

	Perish Song ほろびのうた Perish Song	Learned at Lv. 5 Cooldown: 6.5 seconds Upgrades into Perish Song+ at Lv. 11
Area	Description
Has the user sing an eerie melody that echoes around it, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. This move can be used up to three times consecutively within a set time, and opposing Pokémon hit all three times take additional damage. Opposing Pokémon that take this additional damage will be knocked out if their HP falls below a set percentage of their max HP. Upgrade: The user's next basic attack after using this move becomes a boosted attack.

Ranged	Description
Has the user hurl chunks of ice in a forward direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon they hit and leaving them frozen for a short time. If this move hits an opposing Pokémon that is already frozen, it deals damage to it and shoves it.

	Bubble Beam バブルこうせん Bubble Beam	Learned at Lv. 7 Cooldown: 9 seconds Upgrades into Bubble Beam+ at Lv. 13
Ranged	Description
Grants the user a shield and has the user spray bubbles in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. After the bubbles fly a set distance, they slowly float for a short time. Opposing Pokémon hit by a floating bubble are enveloped by it and left unable to act for a short time. Upgrade: Strengthens the effect of the shield granted by this move.

	Ice Beam れいとうビーム Freezing Beam	Learned at Lv. 7 Cooldown: 8 seconds Upgrades into Ice Beam+ at Lv. 13
Ranged	Description
Has the user unleash an icy-cold beam of energy in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and freezing the ground. Opposing Pokémon on the frozen ground take damage over time and have their movement speed decreased, and they become frozen if they remain on the frozen ground for a set amount of time. When the user is on the frozen ground, its movement speed is increased. Upgrade: Increases the length of time opposing Pokémon are frozen.

Unite Move

	Lapras Express ライドオン！ラプラス Ride On! Laplace	Learned at Lv. 9
Dash	Description
Has the user ride a wave quickly and continuously forward. The user's movement speed increases while riding but decreases if the user hits an obstacle. If the user hit an opposing Pokémon, the user stops in place, dealing damage to and throwing the opposing Pokémon. While the user is riding the wave, one nearby ally Pokémon of the user's choice can ride on its back. If this move is used again, the user stops and launches a wave that continues moving forward, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and throwing them. Ally Pokémon riding on the user's back can dismount and use moves while riding Lapras' back.

Trivia

• Lapras Express may be based on Lapras' various Pokédex entries mentioning how it gives people and Pokémon rides on its back. It may also draw inspiration from Surf, a move that can be used outside of battle to allow a trainer to ride their Pokémon to cross bodies of water. Lapras is associated with Surf, with Generation II games making a Lapras sprite the default sprite for surfing, and Generation VI games having depicting Lapras instead of a generic model when the player uses a Lapras's Surf.
