Birdie the Early Bird is a character appearing in commercials for the fast food brand McDonald's, created to promote their breakfast menu. In 2025, she appeared in several promotions for A Minecraft Movie.

Appearance

Birdie is a humanoid, yellow bird, believed by some fans to be a canary. Her body is covered almost entirely by yellow feathers, save for brown hair tied into pigtails. Her wardrobe consists of flight goggles, bows for her hair, a white scarf, and pink overalls with the McDonald's logo, however in the Minecraft style it becomes pixelated.

Powers and abilities

Due to being a bird, Birdie is capable of flight. However, she was initially not capable of doing so, and had to practice many years before triumphantly mastering the skill.[1] Even with this, she lacks the ability to land gracefully.[2] The use of elytra helps resolve this issue, with Birdie being able to reach incredible heights by simply spreading her own wings while running and using the elytra to fly. While doing so, no firework rockets were used.

Biography

Upon emerging in the Overworld, Birdie and her friends set out to explore and construct. While Grimace found the dragon egg, Birdie found a pair of elytra, and used them to soar into the skies. However, she ended up being intercepted by ghasts, forcing her to flee. The situation worsened with the night, as she pleaded for Hamburglar to seek shelter, slamming the door after helping him inside. Relieved, she thought the problems were over, only to realize a zombie was inside with them.
