Great Basin

The Great Basin was an arid region of the Western United States.

Each fall, strong winds called the Santa Ana winds brought dry air from this area into Southern California. These winds contributed to the conditions which created wildfires.

In the January 21, 2024 issue of the Los Angeles Times, there was a mention of this basin in the article "Why this fire season is set up to be the worst in decades", which was about the wildfires in Los Angeles County. (PIC: "Watcher")
