Gravcycles

Gravcycles from a holodeck movie

A gravcycle, hovercycle, or hoverbike was a wheel-less motorcycle that used anti-gravity technology to hover above the ground. They were used on many worlds throughout the United Federation of Planets and beyond. Such vehicles were typically meant for one rider, though some models could accommodate a passenger behind the main seat or in a sidecar.

In the 2240s of the alternate reality, the police in Riverside, Iowa patrolled the countryside on hovercruisers. (Star Trek)

By 2380, the Gelrakians used hovercycles for ground transport. (LD: "Temporal Edict")

In 2381, while the lower deckers of the USS Cerritos were disposing of psychic mines that were able to manifest their fantasies as illusions and then turn them to stone; Ensign Brad Boimler's fantasy appeared before him as an admiral driving a Starfleet gravcycle, who wanted to recruit him to help him fight the Borg. The gravcycle in question resembled a Federation starship, with mounted devices that resembled starship components, including a navigational deflector, nacelles, and coils. Standard cycle components included a single headlight and an attached sidecar. (LD: "Mining The Mind's Mines")

Later that year, when the lower deckers were acting in Ensign Boimler's holonovel, Crisis Point II: Paradoxus, there was a chase sequence on Tatasciore IX in which they pursued a Romulans on a hovertank. D'Vana Tendi used her cycle to crash the Romulans' tank. (LD: "Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus")

In the 2380s, motorcycles that appeared to be hoverbikes were present on the Qo'noS, although it appeared that they were capable of hovering at a considerably higher altitude then most other hoverbikes. In 2382, two hoverbike-like vehicles that would probably best be described as flying chopper bikes nearly collided in mid-air. One biker tells the other to "Experience bij!"; and in response other one tells him "You experience bij!" (LD: "A Farewell To Farms")

In 2437, the Vau N'Akat used hoverbikes for transportation on their homeworld. Dal R'El, Maj'el, Zero and Jankom Pog were taken into custody by soldiers on hover bikes. They were then brought to the same prison cell as Chakotay and Adreek-Hu where they staged a jailbreak. They later stole the hoverbikes and drove them away as a distraction to allow Chakotay and Adreek-Hu to get to the USS Protostar. After the cadets lost their pursuers, they met back at the Infinity. (PRO: "Who Saves the Saviors")

After meeting up at the Infinity with their stolen hoverbikes, Dal uses his binoculars to see that The Diviner was talking to his men, whom he then ordered them to organize a search party to locate the escaped prisoners. (PRO: "Temporal Mechanics 101")
