Alfred Ainsworth (born 6 April 1969; age 56) is a video playback engineer who worked on Star Trek, produced and directed by J.J. Abrams. He previously worked with Abrams and many other Star Trek production staff members on Paramount Pictures' Mission: Impossible III (2006).

Ainsworth began his video playback career as an employee of Video Image in the early 1990s. During his tenure, he worked on such films as Gattaca (1997, featuring Elizabeth Dennehy and Jayne Brook), Face/Off (1997, featuring John Carroll Lynch, Harve Presnell and Robert Wisdom), Con Air (1997, starring Colm Meaney), Turbulance (1997, featuring Ben Cross, Catherine Hicks, Scott Lawrence and James MacDonald), Down Periscope (1996, starring Kelsey Grammer, with Toby Huss and Patton Oswalt), The Rock (1996, featuring David Bowe, Raymond Cruz, Willie Garson, Marshall R. Teague, Tony Todd and Tom Towles), Speed (1994, starring Joe Morton, featuring Carlos Carrasco, Richard Lineback, Jordan Lund, Alan Ruck, Bruce Wright , Patrick Fischler and Robin McKee) and Clear and Present Danger (1994, featuring Vaughn Armstrong, Reg E. Cathey, Raymond Cruz, Elizabeth Dennehy, Ann Magnuson, Ellen Geer, Aaron Lustig, John Putch, Cameron Thor and Harris Yulin).

After departing Video Image, Ainsworth found work on films such as My Favorite Martian (starring Christopher Lloyd, Wallace Shawn and Ray Walston), Inspector Gadget (1999, featuring René Auberjonois and Andy Dick), Magnolia (1999, featuring Jim Beaver, Henry Gibson, Pat Healy, Don McManus and Michael Shamus Wiles), The Perfect Storm (2000, starring Mark Wahlberg, with Bob Gunton and Christopher McDonald), and Simone (2002, starring Winona Ryder, with Rebecca Romijn). His other credits include Get Smart (2009, starring The Rock), Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (featuring Lee Arenberg, Vanessa Branch and Greg Ellis), Syriana (2005, starring Matt Damon and Tim Blake Nelson, with David Clennon, Robert Foxworth and Alexander Siddig), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005, featuring Jennifer Morrison), National Treasure (2004, starring Jon Voight and Christopher Plummer), and National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007, starring Bruce Greenwood).

Star Trek was Ainsworth's fourth collaboration with cinematographer Dan Mindel. They previously worked together on Enemy of the State (1998, starring Jon Voight, featuring Dan Butler), Domino (2005, featuring Stanley Kamel and Andy Milder), and Mission: Impossible III. Ainsworth also worked on The Island (2005, featuring Ethan Phillips, Noa Tishby, Tim Halligan, Glenn Morshower and Michael Canavan, written by Star Trek's Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci).
