(Japanese: 光の羅針盤The Compass of Light) is the ninth chapter of the Pokémon RéBURST manga.
Plot
The newly revealed Compass of Light
Ryouga, Miruto, and Yappy arrive in the Free Market City of Karakuda, where they hope to find information about Arcades. They search around for a while before noticing a pair of Bouffalant fighting. A young boy and his Minccino are caught between the battling Pokémon, but Ryouga saves them before the two can be seriously injured. The boy's grandmother thanks them for saving her grandson and offers to give them an item from her store for free as payment. In the store, Ryouga discovers a strange old plate that reacts to his Burst Heart and reveals a singular indent in which Ryouga's Burst Heart fits perfectly.
When he inserts the Burst Heart into the hole, five other slots appear. The object glows before firing a beam of light pointing towards some unknown location. Ryouga tells the old woman he'll take this as his gift, and runs off with Miruto and Yappy chasing after him. They follow the beam of light for a long time before arriving at a destroyed settlement. Ryouga notices that the light seems to be pointing at a person who is standing by themselves among the buildings. The person turns to face Ryouga, who waves and calls out to him. The stranger then kicks a discarded can towards Ryouga with such force that it creates a large crater as it embeds itself in the wall behind him. The stranger then tells Ryouga to put the Compass of Light away.
Major events
The group arrive at Free Market City 'Karakuda' and try to gather information about Arcades.
Ryouga saves a young boy from a pair of raging Bouffalant and in return gets given a Compass of Light which, which points to other Burst Hearts.
With the compass, Ryouga finds an unknown man who immediately attacks him.
