The World's Best...!!?
The World's Best...!!? (Japanese: 世界一…!!? The World's Best...!!?) is the eighth chapter of the Pokémon RéBURST manga.
Plot
Ryouga and Miruto are surrounded by a pack of wild Darmanitan, who have been attacking every adventurer that goes into their valley. Yappy is sure that he saw Ryouga transform and wants to reveal his Human Pokémon status as his big scoop. He demands he transform already, but notices too late the Darmanitan behind him, he tries to run away, but falls into the valley with the others instead.
As Miruto chastises Yappy, Ryouga uses Burst. Yappy wants to catch this moment for his scoop, but finds that his camera broke. The Darmanitan are intimidated by the Burst Warrior, backing away into a cave. The trio goes closer to inspect it and find a wounded Darumaka. Miruto deduces that the Darmanitan were attacking people because they were protecting their young. She asks Yappy if he has medicine and to help her heal the Darumaka.
That night, Yappy is tied and hanging from a tree. With his camera broken, he cannot take pictures of Ryouga's transformation, and asks for forgiveness, much to Miruto's annoyance. As Ryouga stands, Yappy apologizes and proclaims that he wants to get a big scoop to achieve his dream of becoming the world's number one journalist. Miruto warns Ryouga to not trust him, asking if he is really going to forgive him. However, Ryouga yawns, having used Burst twice that day. He says they should sleep since it is getting late, collapsing on the ground immediately after.
Later, with both Ryouga and Miruto asleep, Yappy steals the former's glove and Burst Heart and runs off for his big scoop. However, he wonders if he could use it now and tries it. Suddenly, he gets struck by a huge blast of lightning, waking up the two. Ryouga explains that one has to go through special training in order to use Burst, without it one could die.
The next day, a tied up Yappy confesses his crime, and Miruto suggests they beat him for it. Yappy is ready for it, having no regrets for what he does to become the number one journalist, despite drawing the ire from others. To his and Miruto's surprise, Ryouga offers him to travel with them. Since he wants to become the world's strongest man, Yappy could surely find another big scoop if he goes with them. Yappy remembers how he was ridiculed for his dream in his hometown. Miruto is against bringing him along, but Ryouga counters that she said two people traveling together is better than one, so three would be better than that. Yappy accepts, at least until the next city, and guides them through the forest.
