Blurb
A loyal Magikarp wants nothing more than to make a friend.
Plot
At a lake, a young boy Rikuo and his grandfather are fishing. Rikuo starts to walk and play his flute as his grandfather gets a bite. He fails to reel it in as the Pokémon swims over to Rikuo playing the flute. As Rikuo looks away, the Magikarp jumps out of the water. Rikuo then begins to play his flute again, and as he does, he sees a Magikarp emerge from the water. He then continues to play and walk, as the Magikarp follows him. A Rowlet, Butterfree, and Weedle watches as Rikuo continues to play until midday, where the Magikarp jumps into a glass container full of water that Rikuo's grandfather had brought over.
On the drive back to Rikuo's house, he is seen playing with the Magikarp in the back of the truck. As they arrive at Rikuo's home, Rikuo ecstatically asks his dad if they could take the Magikarp. The dad looks at the mom, before they both agree on no. Sadly, Rikuo's grandfather and Rikuo has to drive to the day care to leave the Magikarp there. Rikuo plays his flute to the Magikarp one last time before running off.
In the day care, the Magikarp meets many Pokémon such as Mantyke, Farfetch'd, and Poliwag. The Magikarp sees Farfetch'd's celery stick as Rikuo's flute. The Magikarp then jumps extremely high out of the water, before landing next to a Rillaboom, who hears the Magikarp's flops as drum beats, and begins to play a song. Many other Pokémon join in, such as Kricketune and Kricketot making a violin sound, two Toxtricity (an Amped Form and Low Key Form) making an air guitar shape, a Magmar spewing fire, an Azurill bouncing about and a Lycanroc (Midday Form) howling. We are then met with a little girl running up to a bunch of Bulbasaur with all except one being Ditto, revealing themselves after the girl hugs the real Bulbasaur. A boy comes across a Raboot kicking a football, before making eye contact. We then see more children appear and take most of the Pokémon from the day care during the winter.
Eventually, Magikarp spots a slightly older Rikuo start running towards him, before he stops in front of a Psyduck and takes it. The Magikarp tries to jump out of the water to catch up with Rikuo, but is too late. The Magikarp then dives back into the water. But then, he hears Rikuo's flute playing, and gets flashbacks of Rikuo, before evolving into a Gyarados, flooding the day care and Rikuo. Rikuo looks up in amazement, then continues playing his flute. It then zooms out to see the Mantyke, Poliwag, and Farfetch'd, before zooming out further and seeing the mountain they are on, before the screen fades out.
