The Ditto Test
メタモンくんの変身試験
Metamon's Transformation Exam
The Ditto Test (Japanese: メタモンくんの変身試験, Metamon's Transformation Exam), is the 32nd chapter of the Magical Pokémon Journey manga.
Plot
Hazel and Almond stumble upon two bickering Ditto. Suspecting them to be arguing about love, Hazel inserts herself into the conversation. One of the Ditto, Bee, explains that the two are worried about their exams, where they will be required to prove their ability to transform into anything, including humans. The other Ditto, Bo, then points out that he has already passed the test, and Bee will be retaking it. If Bee does not pass this time, he will have to redo every class he has already taken.
Bee transforms into Hazel's Pikachu to show off his skill, but his eyes more closely resemble Hazel's than Pikachu's. Hazel suggests he try mimicking humans to improve, and offers to let him transform into her. Bee does so, but makes her features oversized. He attempts to correct himself, but his head transforms into Pikachu's. Bo reminds him that he is lacking concentration, prompting Bee to yell at him.
Hazel then presents Almond for Bee to mimic. He manages to get his body correct, but gives him Clefairy's face, then Hazel's. He finally gets Almond's face right, but makes himself too small. After Almond offers words of encouragement, Bee is able to fully mimic him. The two continue to test Bee's ability until the day of the exam arrives.
Hazel, Almond, Pikachu, Clefairy, and Squirtle come to support Bee during his test. Bo visits as well, but Bee yells at him for showing up when he has already passed. The test soon begins, and Bee is given three tries to transform into Grandpa. Almond is relieved that someone with such a simple appearance was chosen as a model, but Bee is completely frozen. Because Grandpa looks so different from other humans, Bee is unsure how to proceed.
He begins his first attempt, but combines both Pikachu and Hazel's faces on Grandpa's body. His second attempt is even worse, making Granda look as if he is made of liquid, and leaving his face untransformed. As Bee panics, Bo advises him to view Grandpa as a Pokémon instead of a human. This gives Bee the courage to try again, and he manages to capture Grandpa's image perfectly, passing the test. Bee apologizes to Bo for pushing him away, then thanks him and the others for their help. Meanwhile, Grandpa sulks about having been perceived as a Pokémon.
