Release information

This card was included as a Regular card, a Full Art ultra rare, and a special illustration rare in the Paldea Evolved expansion, first released in the Japanese Clay Burst expansion. The Regular and Full Art prints feature artwork by Sanosuke Sakuma, while the special illustration rare print features artwork by kirisAki. In Japan, the Regular print was reprinted in the Ruler of the Black Flame Deck Build Box, in both Terastal Starter Sets, in the Venusaur & Charizard & Blastoise Special Deck Set ex, in both Starter Deck & Build Sets, in the Stellar Miracle Deck Build Box, in both Stellar Tera Type Starter Sets, and in the Generations Start Deck Koraidon ex & Paldean Clodsire ex. The Regular print was also reprinted in the special Paldean Fates expansion alongside a special illustration rare print featuring new artwork by hanabushi—both of these prints originated from the Japanese Shiny Treasure ex subset.

A Parallel Holofoil version of the Regular print was used as a promotional card for the 2024 Championship Series Regionals. This print features the "Pokémon Trading Card Game Championships: Regional" logo in the bottom right corner of the card artwork. A version of the card with a "Staff" stamp was also handed out to event staff. In Japan, the Regular print was reprinted again in both Battle Master Decks and as an SV-P Promotional card. The promotional print was one of seven cards that could be found in Pokémon Card Gym Promo Card Pack 6, which was distributed at Pokémon Card Gym venues able to do so from April 26, 2024.[1] The promotional print features the Pokémon Card Gym logo.

A new Full Art print with artwork by yuu was included as an SVP Black Star Promo in the Iono Premium Tournament Collection, which also included three Cosmos Holofoil variant copies of the Regular print with an exclusive Iono Zone logo stamp. This Full Art print was available in Indonesia and Thailand as a promotional card in its respective languages. Between August 16 and October 31, 2024, people could take part in "Tactics Deck Point Exchange" promotional events at Pokémon Card Gym stores and obtain points by buying Tactics Deck products and attending special Tactics Deck Battle tournaments. Three points were awarded for the purchase of any Tactics Deck at a store and one point was awarded for participating in a tournament. People could redeem the Iono card upon reaching 14 points, which was distributed from November 25 until December 31, 2024.[2][3]

In Japan, the Regular print was reprinted again in the Battle Partners Deck Build Box, the Steven and Marnie ex Starter Sets, and the Premium Trainer Box MEGA.

Trivia

  • This card's effect is similar to that of N, first released in the Noble Victories expansion. The only difference is that N shuffles both players' hands into their respective decks, while Iono puts both players' hands on the bottom of their decks.
  • This card appears in a key role in the third episode of Pokémon: Path to the Peak as part of Edgar Troy's strategy.

Origin

Iono is the Gym Leader of the Levincia Gym in Paldea. The Levincia Gym's battle court is featured in the Regular print's illustration.

The Paldean Fates special illustration rare print features Iono's full team from her initial gym battle in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Wattrel, Luxio, Bellibolt, and Mismagius.
