Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon arc

Sun, Moon, and Professor Kukui traveled to Akala Island, marking the beginning of Sun's Island challenge. There, Sun and Moon met Lana, Mallow, and Kiawe, where Sun took on Lana's trial while Moon searched for some Mirage Berries with Mallow. They then learned that Kiawe was attacked by Gladion, where Sun learned how to use a Z-Move while fighting him. After Gladion left, the group were able to deliver a Mirage Berry to Tapu Lele, but not before challenging it.

Once Kukui rejoined with them in Konikoni City, they planned their next move, discussing the recent Ultra Wormholes and Team Skull's involvement with them. Sun, Moon, and Kukui decided to head to Ula'ula Island, where the captains would make for Team Skull's hideout.

Trivia

  • This is the only one of Alola's main islands which does not have a meadow. The island's nectar and flowers can instead be found at Royal Avenue.
    • Despite the location not being in the game, a location header called "Akala Meadow" exists in the game data.
    • Concept art for an Akala Meadow also exists,
  • Out of all of Alola's islands, Akala Island has the most island challenge trials to complete, with a total of four, including Olivia's grand trial.
  • The four trials for Akala Island are of the same types as the four "phases" of the Pokémon Stadium stage in the Super Smash Bros. series - Water, Fire, Grass, and Rock.
