Zeta Gelis star cluster

The Zeta Gelis star cluster was a star cluster in the Alpha Quadrant. This cluster was in a sector that was adjacent to Sector 9569. The planet Zalkon was located 2.3 parsecs (7.5 light years) from this cluster in Sector 9569.

In 2366, the USS Enterprise-D was conducting a routine survey of an uninhabited star system in the Zeta Gelis cluster when they discovered an amnesic Zalkonian, who they called "John Doe" in the remains of an escape pod on a remote planet. (TNG: "Transfigurations")

The location of this star cluster in the Alpha Quadrant was inferred from the position of Sector 9569 in this quadrant and the closeness of the planet Zalkon to the cluster.
It was probable that one of the stars in this star cluster was named Zeta Gelis.
In the Bayer designation, which was a system of stellar classification, the Greek letter indicated the brightness of a star in a constellation. In this case, Zeta Gelis would be the 6th brightest star in its constellation.
