Vincent Van Dyke is a make-up effects artist, painter and sculptor who worked as a silicone prosthetics sculptor and lab tech for the Proteus Make-up FX Team on the 2009 film Star Trek.

More recently, Van Dyke worked as head of his own "Vincent Van Dyke Effects (VVDFX)" studio as Prosthetic Designer under the auspices of CBS Television Studios' makeup department head James MacKinnon on the entirety of Star Trek: Picard, winning an Emmy Award for his efforts. [1] His work as such on the remaineder of the series earned Van Dyke two more Star Trek Emmy Award nominations, neither of which won however.

Van Dyke has a Starfleet officer named after him.

Career

Van Dyke was also a member of Barney Burman's Proteus FX's make-up effects crew on the films Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, Blades of Glory (2007), Tropic Thunder, and Bryan Singer's Valkyrie (2008). He did the same thing for Mission: Impossible III (2006, directed by Star Trek's J.J. Abrams).

His effects work on the TV shows Strong Medicine, Medium and Scrubs were also done as part of the Proteus FX team. For Tom Burman and Bari Dreiband-Burman's company, The Burman Studio, Van Dyke has provided special effects makeup for the hit medical television shows Grey's Anatomy (earning him his very first Emmy Award nomination in 2009), Nip/Tuck, TV's The Closer, and the 2008 film Camille. His most recent work, which include among others the genre TV series production Fallout, was done under the umbrella of his own VVDFX company. During this period Van Dyke racked up another twelve Emmy Award nominations, besides the two for Picard, though the one he won for Picard has to date also remained his only Emmy win.
