Vega IX was the ninth planet in the Vega system. The planet was located in the Alpha Quadrant and was approximately 25 light years from Sol.

In the mirror universe, Vega IX was home to a Terran colony. It was at this colony where Terran Empire Captain James T. Kirk executed five thousand colonists in his second action as commanding officer of the ISS Enterprise. (TOS: "Mirror, Mirror")

Background information

This planet's quadrant of origin was inferred based on the position of its star system as seen in the star chart appearing in the Star Trek: Picard episode "Maps and Legends".

In "Two Days and Two Nights", the NX-class Enterprise, set a milestone twenty-five years after Travis Mayweather was born on his father's ship while it was on the Vega-Draylax cargo run, by becoming the first Earth ship to travel ninety light years away from the Sol system. This would be consistent with the location of the real star Vega, which is approximately twenty-five light years from the Sol system.

In the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I"), the Vega colony, on Vega IX, was listed as a Federation member in 2378.
