USS Curie (deleted material)
In an early draft of the script for Star Trek: Discovery episode "Context Is for Kings", the USS Curie (NCC-1690) was a Shepard-class Federation starship that was supposed to be another ship that unsuccessfully experimented with the spore drive.
The ship's designer, John Eaves, "drew a whole new vessel, a CG model was done, and we did a paint-over for it. That ship had to do this weird thing where it got distorted in some kind of time warp scenario, so I used Photoshop to add a ripple effect across the surface of the ship to show what the damage would look like. It wasn't like panels getting ripped off as you would expect, but more of a bizarre warp transition, but suddenly that all went away and they rewrote the Currie [sic] out of it and put in a Crossfield-class ship like the Discovery, which ended up being the Glenn. I think because those shapes were already known for having the spore drive that wasn't working, it lent itself better to the story than an entirely different ship."
