23rd century

24th century Prime universe

During her time in the 24th century, Georgiou learned that San was actually still alive and after the Godsend weapon, planning to use it to destabilize the United Federation of Planets and lead an invasion of the prime universe. Georgiou worked with Section 31 to stop her old friend, but was unable to talk him down. During a fight between the two, San took a fatal hit to the side of the neck from his own sword when Georgiou managed to knock the blade away from herself, accidentally hitting San in the process. In San's final moments, the two reconciled before San died in a heartbroken Georgiou's arms. (Star Trek: Section 31)

In 3189, Philippa Georgiou began having flashbacks to her earlier life in the Terran Empire, including standing over San's bloody body. (DIS: "Scavengers", "The Sanctuary")

Before being sent back in time by the Guardian of Forever, not knowing that San had survived his apparent death in the 23rd century, Georgiou told Michael Burnham that "I wish I'd learned all this before now. I had a chance, once, long ago. He was called San. I wish I told you about him." Burnham encouraged Georgiou to tell the people that she was about to meet instead. (DIS: "Terra Firma, Part 2")
